That stated, Roy was never the lineal champ and therefore never at the top of the division, even though he was leaps and bounds better than the lineal champ.

You just can't say he is the top of the division, the lineal champ was. Jones and HBO were calling him something like undisputed champ, (which I didn't disagree with as I think the WBO belt is bogus) but that's just HBO marketing, same as it is here with Kov.
    Thanks.

Oh and those belts Jones had collected was actually stripped from DM under the most dubious of circumstances.

Unlike LHW, where Kov eliminated all the other contenders in the ring, GGG is many people's #1 contender by virtue of his winning streak.

If you think GGG is the best MW, fine with me.

I do think he's the best middleweight, and by a fairly wide margin. The best since B-Hop, imo.
However, you didn't address my second question. Do you think Genna is justified in waiting at 160 and trying to win the lineal championship before he makes the move to 168, which I hope is (and probably will be) permanent.

that was a complete fiasco. I just want to make sure my main point is understood:

top of the division is objective-it requires holding the lineal title. Best in the division is subjective-its a personal opinion that could be biased.

I think he needs to take control of his career and accept he isn't likely getting a cotto fight. He should either get gangsta and call out cotto or canelo in such a way that it makes them want to fight.

He could have his management tell HBO he is off to SHowtime for the Chavez jr. fight if they don't make one of their other exclusive fighters-ward or canleo-fight him.

I just think he needs to do more than fight the willie Monroe's of the world.

He has been doing more. His last three opponents were top 10 MWs and two were top 5.
Stay busy fights are a reality for guys that fight as often as Gennady does. Not every opponent can be a big name. Early era fighters like Louis and Robinson used to fight bums and no-hopers all the time.
