I still need to see it to believe it though. Adonis ducked the fight very hard already before
It's like you read my mind. Thanks!

I still count it as a duck when a guy puts off a fight for as long as possible. Kovalev/Stevenson should have happened already.

I also like how Stevenson kept Kovy's name out of his mouth until he looked vulnerable, then it was like "yeah, let's fight". Reminds me of when SRL did the same thing to Hagler. Saw the Mugabi fight and said "I can beat him, I'm gonna fight him."

      B!tch move

... "Team Stevenson Eye Kovalev Fall Clash in Quebec"...

There is one thing to "eye" a fight, but there's a total different thing to start negotiation and to to conclude the contract for an actual fight...

(We all know the previous illustrious Floyd-Pac situation... Al Haymon knows better than Yvon Michel...)

But in my opinion, Kovalev has surpassed Stevenson at LHW.

The same way that Golovkin is the best MW, but not the lineal champ.

Lineal = overrated, lineal is just another blah blah ABC title..... and the lineal champ is OFTEN not the best guy in the division.

Lineal, is now a filler title, nothing more. Back in the day there was no such thing as a lineal champ, because we had a real champ.

IMHO, which is just my opinion, Kovalev is just ahead of Stevenson at 175, but that is a 50/50 fight..... fakk lineal, that means nothing.
The lineal champ is the real champ. He is often a holder of one or more sanctioning body belts. With all the bodies and all the "world" champs, we need to keep current with who the man who best the man etc is.

If you think Kov is the best LHW, I'm fine with that. He just isn't the champ in the division. That's Stevenson.

Lineal will always mean more to me than sanctioning body belts. THat sanctioning bodies are corrupt and political-the lineal title should be held in much higher esteem.

That applies to the middleweight division, too, right?
So Gennady is justified in wanting a Cotto fight, so he can be the "real champ"?

Yes. Anyway you cut it, Cotto is the lineal champ.

Unlike LHW, where Kov eliminated all the other contenders in the ring, GGG is many people's #1 contender by virtue of his winning streak.

If you think GGG is the best MW, fine with me.

The situations are not exactly the same, lets be clear.

That stated, Roy was never the lineal champ and therefore never at the top of the division, even though he was leaps and bounds better than the lineal champ.

You just can't say he is the top of the division, the lineal champ was. Jones and HBO were calling him something like undisputed champ, (which I didn't disagree with as I think the WBO belt is bogus) but that's just HBO marketing, same as it is here with Kov.
