Promoter Yvon Michel of GYM, who handles WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson, is going to expedite the process of the mandatory negotiations to face WBA/WBO/IBF champion Sergey Kovalev.

Last December at the WBC's annual convention in Las Vegas, the sanctioning body made an unprecedented move by ordering a final eliminator with one of the two combatants being a unified champion of three rival sanctioning organizations. It's a shame for Kovalev. He can't win FOTY because Manny or Floyd will get it. Otherwise he'd be a runaway winner if he beat Pascal and Stevenson.

If Kovalev gets hit like he did against Pascal, who marked him up real good, he'll get knocked out by Stevenson, who has tremendous one-punch knockout power. Emanuel Steward believed in Adonis for a reason. Kovalev is suddenly on a pedestal that might prove to have a crack in it -- he's getting nasty in his remarks, saying Pascal had "no heart." What a bullcrap remark.

We'll see who has heart when Stevenson nails the Russian on the chin.

I'd think after watching Kovalev get knocked around hard for few rounds last night after Pascal showed great heart and came back from the brink to mark up the Russian's ugly mug, Stevenson would be ready to sign a contract right now.
