I'm aware of GYM, but even if they are willing to put the fight on HBO, you can guarantee Haymon is able to block it if he wants, that's how his "advisor" contracts are worded. He has the final say with all his clients.

As far as the bid itself is concerned, Haymon is not a promoter and really has no say at all in the matter, he cannot bid on the fight.
Haymon just won a purse bid for Dirrell-DeGale under the "Warriors Boxing Promotion" guise.

I used to know Yvon Michel personally and he will not sell his soul to Haymon either.
Fk man, it seems like he already has. Stevenson, Beterbiev and Alvarez all signed with Haymon.

Kovalev beats Adonis down worse then Pascal. Why? Adonis is a plodder. He's slow. His footwork sucks. He has a huge right hand. Not to mention he has an absolute glass chin (Kovalev doesn't. Please no mentions of some NO VIDEO fight with Darnell Boone 6 years ago in which he supposedly got knocked down.... This fight is nothing more then a myth. No video, no care. inb4 someone mentions KO'd in the amateurs. Who cares? It was the amateurs and he fought a supremely talented World Championships gold medalist. He's taken every opponents best punches in the pros and never been rocked, stunned or shocked.)

That's it. As soon as Kovalev touches Adonis' early in the first he's going to be in straight up survival mode just like any other fighter who faces him.

Adonis STevenson is absolutely tailor made for Kovalev.... He doesn't have any boxing ability. He's a plodder with power. To have ANY sort of a chance to even have SOME success against Kovalev you have to have ELITE, I mean ELITE footwork and boxing ability, and even then to survive 12 rounds and do much more then just use your boxing ability and speed to survive will be damn tough. It'd take an absolute masterclass of a performance for somebody to survive 12 rounds with Kovalev AND score points- and not merely survive.

Adonis Stevenson is easy work. He would of got decimated in 2013, he gets decimated now.

Make it happen. Krusher's legacy and path to GOAT LHW is waiting. Come on.
      +1

Kovalev made the mistake of punching himself out in the 4th going for the KO and giving Pascal ZERO respect. Pascal hit him with some decent winging right hands while Kovalev was recovering in the 5th and 6th. Once he got back to the way he was fighting the first three rounds it was lights out for Pascal.

I don't see Kovalev making the same mistake against Stevenson if the fight ever happens. He would take a similar approach as he did against Hopkins and I could see him not knocking out Stevenson but shutting him out.

In a purse bid situation, HBO gets to co-sign nothing. If Stevenson's side wins the bid then they get to decide the network - and I can promise you it wont be HBO...

The fight is going to be in Montreal where Stevenson is from and where it sells tickets, are they going to put a Montreal card on US network TV? doesn't make much financial sense.
This fight WONT be on HBO PPV. Not even close...

            **** just got real!

            Good fight

Besides ward, Stevenson is Kova's most competitive fight at LHW

I'm assuming kova is under hbo contract ?

Is this fight even possible and does haymon and gym know that and that's the only reason they are wanting purse bids?

If GYM wins the purse bid, Haymon will look to put the fight on a network other than HBO - and Kovalev will be forced to forfeit his mandatory status...

Fans talk a lot of trash but then when people take the proper steps to make the fight then it is sudden turn and fans backing down and being negative about the fight and turning it into "OH HE REALLY DON'T WANT TO FIGHT HE JUST PRETENDING"!

Haymon and Co are WELL aware of the contract between HBO and Kovalev. By asking for the purse bid, and being that the champion gets the bigger share of the purse, Haymon and Co are essentially putting the squeeze on HBO.

I'd bet my bottom dollar that IF the WBC calls for a purse bid then Kovalev will drop his mandatory status, take care of his IBF mandatory, then fight a rematch with Pascal. Haymon is holding all the cards here and I fully expect HBO will fold...
