I think he just smothers Kov with his punches and doesn't let him get off.
This would be Calzaghe versus Lacy all over again
Slappy gets knocked into next week,Cleverly looked like Calzaghe for the most part, eating good punchers shots and brushing them off, same as Pascal...Pascal has an excellent chin and has taken bombs from Froch(who I believe hits harder than kessler) and instantly came back with no notable disorientation
I've never seen this kind of power rom a light heavyweight before Kovalev, this isn't just a guy with a good left hook or one trick pony, this guy has thunderous power in every kind of shot he throw... just look at his jab to pascals body it was doing a lot of damage and it made a crunching sound everytime it landed
Slappy would get taken out in four rounds with his sloppy defense,I highly doubt Froch who has one of the best chins in smw history could last 6 rounds with Kov
Pascal lasted 8 because he has good legs and fights in spurts,Calzaghe would try and constantly push Kovalev and thats not the way you fight someone with that power
see hatton/manny....foreman/frazier

imo Kessler was the best win of Calzaghes career,Pascal was no hype job,the guy had a tremendous chin... how would you feel if Kovalev easily ko's Adonis? which i think he would do easily
Heck I'd pick the Pascal that fought froch to beat prime Kessler that fought Calzaghe and I'm sure quite a lot of people on here feel the same way...so please don't refer to Pascal as a hypejob

Pascal better than Kesslerin what universe?
Calzaghe has a far better resume but I'll admit Kov is young enough to maybe surpass it. Let me be clear KOVALEV DOES NOT HAVE A BETTER RESUME YET.

I honestly believe Kovalev is the truth, but I think Calzaghe outboxes and outworks Kovalev. The Calzaghe from 2006-2007 vs current Kovalev who fought Agnew, Hopkins, Pascal. I think he gets outboxed. But it would have been a big fight between undefeated fighters. Let's not forget, even though Caparello got destroyed easily, he can not punch at all and he knocked down Kovalev. Agnew's awkwardness also took Kovalev off his game, Calzaghe was awkward as hell and moved very well. And Hopkins survived and avoided a Kovalev KO for 12 rounds at 50 years old, and even took some monstrous shots at the end.
Calzaghe by decision, he would be too fast, too many punches, he'll move around too, he's not a sitting duck. Calzaghe gets knocked down early out of nervousness but comes back to win with activity. Too bad it can't happen, but i'm hoping to see fights like Ward and Froch vs Kovalev even though Kov is huge.
