  • Kovalev is such a straight M.O.F. its unbelievable! But a good fight, Pascal had his moments too, countering Kovalev well with some big shots. But at the end of the day Krushers power was to much and the stoppage was good. Good decision by the ref. Pascal was completely out on his feet, could not dfend himself anymore and Kovalev is able to kill with boxing gloves.

She should not have been there, not old enough to handle that kind of violence.
Absolutely! Her dad had a straight killer in front of him. It could have ended much worse....

If anything, after tonight I think Kovalev showed he'd win even more. He took some bombs and it hardly fazed him
Stevenson hits much harder than Pascal. Hes the only dangerous Opponent left for Kovalev but im sure he will continue to duck him. Stevenson would definitely land on Kovalev, can Kova take it or not? We know hes hitable.
But the longer Stevenson waits, the less dangerous he gonna be. Im sure hes past his best already, judging his last fights. Maybe Stevenson will take oin Kovalev for a last big payday in 1-2 years.

Pascal problem at the end was he got clipped behind the ear so it effected his equilibrium, but not his senses and awareness. Thats what made it a bad stoppage. Think back to Pavlik vs Taylor 1. There is different kinds of "hurt" there is you dont know where you are hurt, and there is equilibrium hurt.

equillibrium shots behind or on the ear, feel like you just got spun around really fast in a chair then have to walk a straight line.

You can tell that he was still game by the fact that he had the senses to fire the counter shots that DID put Kovalev down. But yeah if he didn't put Kovalev down, and Kovalev took his time, he would have most likely been able to stop him legitimately. Just as he would have been able to if Pabon didn't blow his load all over the camera.

I am all about protecting a fighters health, but its not like he had been eating bombs all night. And he already showed that he can bounce back and hurt Kovalev when he is hurt, so why not give him that chance?

Boxings history is nothing if not a compendium of fighters who are badly hurt coming back to win fights against all odds.

Every time a ref blows their load early like this, they rob us of more of that history that makes this sport so great.
Yeah, Pascal was super ok in the 8th and he even floored Kov, right? Therefore Pascal would have had to jump on the Russian next, right? But, instead, he chose to stay in his corner and wait for Kov to tag him again...

Anyway, Pabon should have waited more before ruling the stoppage... I don't like stoppages which come before obvious signs of inferiority and I certainly don't like stoppages in "funny situations -- the give room to post-fight speculations as this one. Pabon should have waited to clearly see if Pascal was incapable to further defend himself or if he was capable to hang on...

In order to conclude: After the fight, did Pascal ask for a rematch? I'm just curious...

Props to Pascal, though. To be able to fight back from that early near KO was greatness. We throw around the term "heart" here way too f**king much, but in this case it's 100% applicable.

              Pascal got mad heart.
The truth is that Pascal is one of the best fighters at 175... Of course, he has liabilities: he fights in spurts, he sometimes swings crazy wide looping punches and he (usually) gasses...

Pascal was, by far, the toughest Kovalev's opponent up to now. He managed to steal two rounds (5th and 6th), before he was badly shaken by Kovalev into the 7th and eventually stopped...

Well we haven't seen the first Boone fight, split decision over 8 rounds with 76-75 on all three cards (one Boone's way), someone needs to upload video of that bout.
