GGG Beating Cotto will not make him a great, Peasant your the only one putting that statement into every single other persons mouth on this subject. What it will do is make him more of a household name and propel him to stardom.

Next you can say all you want that GGG fighting a JMW or WW and getting the win means nothing but Cotto made the choice to fight Martinez in the larger weight division for the title, he won it so he should DEFEND IT regardless if he's small for the division or not, otherwise Vacate the title in the weight class he has no reason to be fighting in.

You also keep saying it's just something shiny and means nothing blah blah then why does he continue to hold onto it rather than vacating it or finding someone to fight in the division?

And this thread was about Cotto so dont try and pass the buck to Canelo? Its not about that. Its about Cotto not having it and defending it against non-MW's. With it vacant, GGG could fight for it against Lee, Quillin, Ndam, Lemieux, etc...After he wins it, he could move up. Hes unified the division which was his goal.
