Comments Thread For: Golovkin's Promoter Explains Selection of Monroe as Foe

It was announced by Tom Loeffler, the managing director of K2 Promotions, that WBA/IBO middleweight champion, Gennady Golovkin, will face Willie Monroe on May 16th in a bout that will be televised by HBO and be held at the Forum in Inglewood, California.

With the pickings being slim at middleweight other names like Tureano Johnson and Jorge Heiland were being contemplated.

Monroe is no where near this. I am completely surprised he was selected as an opponent.

They want a slick southpaw then fight lara, not someone who isnt ready for a world title

there's plenty of fighters out there they just want to fight bums and claim to be the best. Lara is ready any time any day. I'm sick of GGG I used to be a fan until they kept pulling bs moves like this. I'll fight anyone at 155-168 except for the top fighters. Pathetic

seriously doubt haymon would let lara fight on HBO. But yeah sure he'd do fine too, I guess.

I'm guessing that GREEN, is Team GGG's favorite color.

Why do guys keep crying about Lara? The guy ran from canelo and got dropped by bum ass Angulo. Ggg is way better than those guys, you really think he'd do anything?
