Again not bad for the 1st Event but the Job is not DONE! The reason why they're on Network TV is to Build Up and Grow Boxing Fanbase back to what it USE TO BE in the US so if the number goes down from that the next event then it will be disappointment, if it goes up then that is something to really be excited about for the goodness of the sport OVERALL

If this were HBO and they got those numbers it would be great. But HBO shows don't spend a fraction the costs Al just spent on production and promotion for this weekends card. You had tons a paid tv commercials, billboards, radio ads ect and to only get a 3 is not impressive. HBO is also subscription based and does not need the advertisers. Al spending all this money and aint getting high enough ratings to lure advertisers to recoup the money he is losing.

when you think proportionally 3.4million on network televsion is about the same as 800,000 on a premium channel like HBO.

also GGG has been drawing over 1million on HBO in most of his recent fights.

It really is baffling to me. Some fans hate for one or two people supercedes any care they have for the sport as a whole.

I truly dont get it. And when I sit here and applaud what Haymon is doing for the sport I get called a Haymon groupie? I couldnt give two ****s about Haymon. He's trying to make money like anyone else, but hes doing right, and paving the way for a future of the sport of boxing. Not keeping it shelved so a million people watch it on obscure channels.

turning a blind eye to the truth won't save PBC.

this circus show isn't going to last.

HBO has been the established home of boxing for years. Of course the equivalent wont be even yet.

And how is that a bad thing? Having more viewers..

Truth of what? That you dislike Haymon, dont give a **** about boxing, and want this to fail? That you have no clue what you're talking about?

The problem is people are comparing these ratings to other network boxing cards and other UFC cards which all had a drastically lower budget. That's like saying a big budget movie debuts number 1 for the weekend at 20mil. Yes it was number 1 and if it were a small budget film that cost only 20mil to make that would be a huge success. But when it was a big budget movie that cost 200mil to make even though it debuted number 1 it's still a failure. Higher budget means you need a higher return. A big budget movie needs to clear 50-60mil it's first weekend. UFC cards are not paying this much money for the fighters and this much money on production and promotion. Hell most UFC cards don't even pay all the fighter 1 mil total. Broner, Thurman, Guerrero all made over 1 mil each.

it won't be even at all. u underestimate how poorly boxing is received by the general public. everyone thinks boxing is a WWE fake show (it didn't help that PBC entrances looked like WWE).
