Im Armenian, and although I enjoy watching all sorts of fights and fighters, it is the success of Armenian boxers that interest me most.
Being such a small minority here in the US, we as a people feel that we must always support each other and back one another up to move up in this world.
I try not to be biased and i tell it like it is, cuz so far my favorite 3 fighters, of whom 2 i know personally are all undefeated and either at the top of their game or getting there.
1) Vic Darchinyan (good friend) - IBF & IBO World Flyweight Champion
2) Arthur Abraham - IBF Middleweight World Champion
3) Vanes Martirosyan (my cousin) - (7-0 4KOs) trained by Freddie Roach and promoted by Top Rank and Bob Arum. Also represented the USA in the 2004 Athens Olympics
Floyd is my favorite fighter right now, and i honestly think hes the best out there. this is from seeing nearly all his fights and many of his training videos and press releases. that being said, i dont think he is invincible and dont think hes the greatest of all time or anything like that.
same with Ali...i believe he was the greatest hw of all time, but im aware he lost to norton and maybe got a decision of 2 he didnt deserve
oftentimes, fans seem like nuthuggers because they have to deal with haters
Very true. You have these ****** haters saying **** like your a nuthugger if you even THINK Wladimir has a chance of beating BRewster. Thats ridiculous. Maybe Im not as objective as I should be all of the time, but Im not hugger. I am realistic about his accomplishments, his ability and his future in boxing. So Im just a fan
those were two very verrrrrry long nights for me, those tito losses. had lacy AND cotto lost on the same night - my wife would have probably put me on suicide watch.
tyson fans are a faith-filled bunch.
I know exactly how you feel man. I was hurtin on the Tito losses bad, especially the Winky one. I felt the same way on the Lacy fight too. It helped having my two favorite active fighters fighting on the same night. The Cotto win helped me deal with the Lacy loss big time. It still bothers me though...
i'm sure i get the nuthugger syndrome from time 2 time, over some fighters [roy jones I can never admit a fighter is better then him] [some of the all time greats Ray Robinson same thing as Jones] but for the most part i'm not going to put down a fighter just because i dont care for him [I even stick up for Ruiz at times ] Naz i can not stand plain as that...but all and all i would say i am just a regular fan i have guys i like and don't like ..but i'm not going to spend all day fighting over who i like is better then the guy you like or would Tyson beat Ali anything like that ,it's just pointless
[quote=oftentimes, fans seem like nuthuggers because they have to deal with haters[/quote]
agreed. nuthuggers arise when haters come out of their shells... you try to have a meaningful conversation but then they turn to haters and start name-calling and racist comments...
as for me, I am objective and I can give you a good debate... but i easily burst my bubble when somebody crosses the line of the supposed argument and that's when I become a "nuthugger" so to speak.
so i'm not pointing out any group in particular, i'm talking to all groups - cotto fans, hatton fans, pac fans, em/mab/mexican fans and mayweather/black fans.
okay so the synopsis of this thread is quite easy - i just want to know where you stand and what you label yourself, "fan" or "nuthugger" as i've seen people of the both categories proudly label themselves, i'll reserve judgement - its what this thread is for. basically just to know who thinks what, for example, i'm a die hard cotto fan, but can never bring myself to say that "hatton sucks" or that cotto would clean out the 140's. i've seen some pac fans say that "mab, jmm and em are great champs" and on the opposite side of that spectrum we have the cotto fans that view hatton as an over-hyped one trick pony that beat a fading legend and pac fans that are incapable of giving credit where credit is due, speaking specifically of past/present mexican greats.
now - for the most part - i see people on here, like myself , that can be totally unbiased and i wont name you, nor the opposite alike, in what i've noticed. i want you to reply and do it yourselves.
i excluded the HW's because i honestly just don't care for them.
state your case - we're all ears
Lol good topic I'm feeling that. I guess I'm basically where you stand I root for Cotto so therefor I am a Cotto fan but at the same time I realize that till Hatton abandones his jr. welter weight titles he is the real champion and that makes Cotto a paper champ which I hate to say but its true. Alot of times i find myself trying to talk sense into the nutthugger fans but essentially its useless, lol.

wow this discussions is developing to be very interesting...
to some point i agree to minimize nuthugging we have to minimize being haters as well...
i only question how much fun would it be without huggers & haters? IMHO it only gets ugly when it gets racial and sometimes personal ...
Im an Avid Sugar Leonard Fans when he was figtin the likes of Duran, Hearns, Hagler etc.
I become a Luisito Espinosa fan in the 90's when he was supreme @126
I was able to watch some of pacman's early bout but become a fan only when he destroyed Chatchai Sasakul in 98 (Sasakul was a hero then)
I was labeled as a Pac Nuthugger at MAB's forum, saddo's BS and some other sites when me and some other fans declare and defended that PACMAN will beat MAB by stoppage in 2003. Back then it was totally nuthuggin if you think pAC has any kind of chance againts MAB.
