I'm sure right now they no it's make or break and have to strike while the irons hot. After May vs Pac boxing will get a huge boost. From there I see other upcoming fighters stock rise dramatically as we enter 2016. May and Pac will likely be retiring.Comment

That number is inaccurate. Just like they reported Cotto was offered 30 million to fight Mayweather, where Cotto's own people laughed at the report.Comment

I'm sure this will all come down to Cotto wanting to portray that he is better off signing with Roc Nation. Realistically who knows how hungry Cotto is now entering the twilight of his career. This is a easy fight, easy money situation most likely. We don't know Roc nations future long term but landing a ATG like Cotto is the first step in establishing a framework for the promotion to lift off. Things change so fast in half a year, let alone the time frame from which Cotto finishes his last fight. It still is very unclear whether Showtime messed up or not with dumping all that money for Floyd.Comment

According to these guys (who are usually spot on). Don't know what their source is, though.
At any rate, that's 16.6 million per fight. That Canelo money is starting to look like chump change all of a sudden.
The likely scenario is him being overpayed for tuneups for the few fights he has left, Haymon style. If that is in fact the case I can't say I'm not disappointed, but I can't be mad at him either. Seriously, who here hates money?
-PR Day Weekend in New York: Cotto(c) vs Johnson/Mora/Bundrage [~$5m; 90/10 split on the TV rights fee and the take on the gate, plus sponsorships]
-Cotto vs Alvarez, likely Nov/Dec [~$20m; favorable split (60/40, Cotto) on the PPV take, plus a share of the gate and international TV rights {Canelo likely gets the full Mexico TV rights}, and his sponsorships]
-Cotto's Farewell- PR Day 2016 in Puerto Rico [?]
any shortfall on the take, in all honesty, can be written off as the premium Roc Nation had to put up to get Cotto.Comment
