He signed because he liked what Roc Nation offered. I am told that besides whatever money for his fights and other stuff they will do for his promotional company and whatever else he wants to do they paid him a very large signing bonus. I do not know if it's true but I heard they gave him $5 million. Unofficial!

Cotto addressed Todd's comment in my piece as well. From where I sit it seems TR gave Cotto everything he wanted/asked for. It gave his company literally like 7 UniMas cards to build up his fighters. Top Rank gave Jayson Velez the title shot against Gradovich on HBO when it didn't have to. It arranged for Cotto Promotions to have an HBO Latino card. It offered him $10.5 million for the Canelo fight plus the lion's share of the split. Top Rank has done a lot for Cotto and, from what TR says, Cotto owes TR around $250,000 that he has not repaid.

They sound sour as hell to me. Arum just 3 weeks ago said Cotto has a **** load of money and this is the first time we heard about them being sued. Sorry Top Rank, somebody had more to offer outside of boxing you guys need to expand or fail, it was a good 50 years the time to adapt is now.

Canelo ran off like a baby, and Floyd fought Manny. That left Cotto with Rios, Bradley from Top Rank and Cotto was insulted. Either because he wanted more money, or he didn't want to look like a b*tch to the public. Who knows, all I know is that in that time RocNation said we'll promote you, your fighters and give you a cut from every PR concert we do. Who wouldn't pass up money from things outside of boxing?

That's not true at all. Uncle Cotto was known to neglect Cotto in the gym and just let him train himself off in the corner, while he focused his attention on other fighters. That, mixed with the whole Margarito thing just boiled over and sparked the conflict.
