WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto confirmed his new promotional deal with Roc Nation Sports and responded to the recent comments that appeared on BoxingScene.com.

Cotto feels Roc Nation Sports will take him to new heights and help his company achieve things in the sport.

In the BoxingScene article, Top Rank President Todd duBoef said he was disappointed with the way Cotto conducted himself on a business level by ignoring phone calls, emails and other forms of communication.

It is quite common for Bob Arum to be called a liar, but I have never heard anyone level those kind of accusations at Todd duBoef.

I always thought that duBoef was cut from a different cloth than Arum.

That's not true at all. Uncle Cotto was known to neglect Cotto in the gym and just let him train himself off in the corner, while he focused his attention on other fighters. That, mixed with the whole Margarito thing just boiled over and sparked the conflict.

Man.... cong**** to Miguel Cotto handling his business and making the smart decisions for the long run. Cotto in my opinion is going to stay wealthy when he retires. He's shrewd and serious at the same time. Who cares if these guys are in their feelings because you make the decisions best for you and your career instead of trying to please everybody. Cotto doesn't have a track record of burning bridges so people need to sit back, think and wait for everything to develop instead of acting like psychics.

Probably what happened was Top Rank tried to get Canelo, great money for Cotto, but he waited to see what Mayweather would do, Canelo picked Kirkland and then Top Rank only had crappy in-house fights left and Cotto was like fu ck this crap and bounced. I doubt they were intentionally being disrespectful, it's just that they only had ****ty fights to offer him after Canelo and Roc Nation was waiving around mountains of cash to sign. Top Rank wasn't or couldn't match that kind of offer.

i'm thinking maybe he got more leverage and benefits for his promotional company and fighters. if we're to compare just his own fight purses, 8M with Floyd vs 10.5M with Canelo, it's easy to say he made the wrong D and was being a diva. i read someone posted he got a 5M signing bonus!

but in the end i still think he's a diva compared to other fighters.

The beef is not between Jay and haymon per say, it's more Beyonce and haymon.

A few years back, Beyonce was suit by her own father stating he owns her and her brand and he's due x amount of $. come to find out our boy haymon was behind it all and was the driving force that set everything in motion. Let's see what Roc Nation does with Cotto, he must of got a great deal by them for him to sign with him. Cotto went where the money is, but not where there is a lot of experience by a promoter.

True but with Cotto expertise and him having his own promotional company he can build his brand alongside them and have the music connections. You guys are bugging looking at things from a narrow perspective.
