Roc Nation looks to have a lot of money to spend, so Cotto probably made out nicely with this deal.

Curious to see what fights Cotto gets now...wasn't impressed with the options Top Rank was throwing out once Canelo came off the table.

This deal does kinda shake things up now that Mayweather, Pacquiao, Cotto and Alvarez are all with different promoters.

This is huge for Roc Nation! It gives them arguably the 3rd biggest draw in the USA and the biggest draw in the EAST. They can put Cotto at MSG or Brooklyn against anybody and make millions on the gate alone and remember Roc Nation comes from New York so who better to promote their brand then a guy like Cotto. He becomes the face of Roc Nation.

But it only makes sense for Cotto if they gave him some crazy guranteed like 15-20 million per fight.

That being said... my favorite fighter has fallen to the powers of boxing politics. It happens to the best of them and I'm greatly disappointed.
What's so bad about Cotto signing with Roc Nation?

Roc are rookies and are making rookie mistakes, over paying for Cotto is probably another one but at least it makes sense even if doesn't work out.

They are also upsetting major players so while they are putting in the resources even if they find a way to do a good job they likely get snuffed out.

It is a huge play you can't deny that, you aren't wrong on any of that. It will also puts them in one of the biggest fights after the big fight if they can get that done.

Mickey Duff's mantra is pertinent here.

how is cotto a "back stabber"? Him and top rank where in agreement on FIGHT BY FIGHT. Meaning, cotto at anytime, if he chose not to, doesn't need top rank to promote their fights.

It also pretty much forces other promoters to work with them because their fighters would like the Cotto pay day.
