They can put Cotto at MSG or Brooklyn against anybody and make millions on the gate alone and remember Roc Nation comes from New York so who better to promote their brand then a guy like Cotto.

Would like to know what kind of money they can guarantee Cotto, before predicting what kind of money an unproven promoter like Roc Nation can make on gate and tv/ppv.

If that's the case, I'm disappointed. The only fights I wanted for Cotto were Canelo and a Mayweather rematch, and now it seems like the Floyd fight went out the door.

The Canelo fight, while still possible, seems unlikely if Cotto will in fact be overpayed for tuneups like many speculate.

I'm bummed, but the info so far seems inconclusive.

not likely. If cotto fights and beats k9, he gets the IBF 154 lbs title. Floyd has the WBC & WBA titles. They can fight for a unification fight and have a unified champ at 154 lbs. But, it also "forces" promoters to work with each other, cuz "the cold war" in boxing was "over" right

how is cotto a "back stabber"? Him and top rank where in agreement on FIGHT BY FIGHT. Meaning, cotto at anytime, if he chose not to, doesn't need top rank to promote their fights.

Top Rank isn't mad based on what I read here. Not at Cotto (maybe his handlers). Just disappointed. But they didn't rule out working with him. Seems like the author was mad though. And some of the little whiners in here.

All you have to do is put Cotto vs on the marquee and its going to sell in NYC. You dont have to be a hell of a promoter to do that. This is the first time Cotto will be on ESPN first take and I guess that came because Jay Z got him that so I think promotion wont be a problem.

The author is Steve Kim who is known Top Rank/Bob Arum nuthugger so off curse is going to be full of hate and bias. Steve Kim got his 15 minutes of fame by promoting Top Rank agenda and writing what Bob Arum wanted the people to know.

Cotto should be able to do that himself though. I agree that Top Rank can't market anything anymore, they are completely out of touch Bob and Todd. Haymon and Jay-Z know what sells in America today, so it will probably grow the Miguel Cotto brand.

I'm not interested in his brand, I'm interested in his legacy.
