Comments Thread For: Mosley Predicts Mayweather Will Out-Point Pacquiao

Shane Mosley assumed Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao would fight eventually, just not this soon.

Now that boxing’s two biggest stars have signed contracts to meet May 2 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Mosley is just as eager to see it as the rest of us. But the former three-division champion lost unanimous decisions to Mayweather and Pacquiao in May 2010 and May 2011, respectively, and thus has much more perspective on who’ll win than almost anyone else.

This fight is closer than many people think. I like Mosley's perspective since he fought both men and knows first hand what's it like to be in the ring with them. One thing. Mosley almost put Mayweather down(of course Floyd adjusted) and Manny knocked down Shane. What I get from that is Floyd will no doubt be the pure boxer while Manny will use his angles and throw them with hurting intentions. Floyd will not go for a knockout while Manny would rather knock May out.

So when Floyd does win a lop-sided decision, does Pac become instantly shot?

Pacquiao whooped Mosley and forced him to retreat for 9 rounds. Mosley neared dropped Floyd and was pushing the entire fight. Therefore Pacquiao beats Mayweather, using Mosley's "Marquez" logic. Same train of thought for Cotto, De La Hoya, Hatton, all of whom Pacquiao demolished in much more devastating fashion than Mayweather.

Anyway, here's how you eradicate the Marquez theory.

Mayweather dominates Marquez, Marquez is competitive with Pacquiao, therefore Mayweather beats Pacquiao.

Let's replace the name 'Mayweather' with 'Bradley':

Bradley dominates Marquez, Marquez is competitive with Pacquiao, therefore Bradley beats Pacquiao.

            Wait a minute...

Bradley didn't dominate Marquez. It was a close fight that Bradley won. Nice attempt to rewrite history.

                  First JMM. Now Mosley.

Soon Cotto will also be singing the same song. Mayweather will not brawl toe to toe with anyone. He will pot-shot from the outside and hold on the inside every single round. He will do what Mayweather does best, smother his opponents' offense confusing, derailing them off their gameplan. He will force Pacquiao into fighting the Mayweather way. Another boring Mayweather fight without fireworks, only pot-shots, elbows and lots of holding. If you are a Pacquiao fan and will place bets on this fight, please go with your head not your heart. Do not trow your money away.

Of course. That'll be the main reason he loses this fight, according to most. Along with, "Pac wasn't the same after the Marquez KO", "Floyd waited till Manny was shot", "Manny had leg cramps, cuz he gave too much blood, whilst wearing the wrong socks", etc. It's not like Pac fans or Manny himself have a habit of making excuses, right?
