Is Middleweight Really a Bad Division or

GGG is just much better than the competition.

Watching Friday Night fights I just heard Teddy Atlas go off on GGG for fighting opposition that and I quote, "had no special effect" and then he went on to say that he's no longer watching GGG fight unless he fights a Quillin or Jacobs.

I for one think that comment is ****** and selfish. Murray and Geale are much better fighters than Jacobs and Quillin. I feel people are only calling the middleweight division trash because GGG is handling everyone so easily.

But maybe just maybe GGG is that good.

And a side note, was isn't Lightweight, Jr. Lightweight, and Crusierweight getting all this hate. Those division are just as bad if not worst than Middleweight.

Atlas is a moron on so many levels. Jacobs and Quillin? Does he literally not follow boxing? How can someone like him not understand Golovkin has a contract with HBO and Jacobs and Quillin are with Haymon and will be in the PBC series on NBC/Spike? I'd favor Murray over Jacobs and it would be a pick 'em with Quillin.

He won't watch GGG again until he fights these guys who can't fight GGG even if they want to, but he'll watch Jacobs and Quillin who are fighting lessor opponents than GGG lol. I'm not a fan of Friday Night Fights ending, but if Haymon replaces Atlas at least we have that to look forward too. Guy is a clown, talked the entire round, scores the round even though he clearly isn't paying attention, then screams robbery in a close fight that he wasn't even paying attention to half the time as if his card is the only right card lol. Can't stand this guy.

I think what he's really describing is GGG not having that fight where he has to dig deep, fight through adversity, be part of a classic, etc. He did generalize between Murrary and Geale (who aren't alike) and then lumped in Jacobs like he's done anything. Quillin has acted like a clown but when he fights I think he should be taken seriously. Anyway, I'm not sure the fight his overall point, at least that's not what I took from it. He just wants to get to know him better and I sort of feel the same way even though I like everything else about GGG. Memorable fights are something that PAc's career are littered with once he was a champ - it's not his fault, just a reality

160 isn't weak, and it isn't strong. Its a normal division but GGG just stands head and shoulders above everyone else . atlas' comment was ******,because quillen has openly ducked golovkin for years,so unless GGG literally drags him into the ring,Mr melted chocolate isn't going anywhere neat him.

Weak division with a great star like the HW divisions. The other divisions you mentioned don't have a GGG or Wlad.

unlike Wlad though, GGG can move up and fight better opposition which he should do.

Even if the division was strong and GGG was steamrolling legends Teddy would still say this.. he seems to wants to see every fighter taken to their limit

It's a bit of both I think. GGG is hands down the best but there may be a good fight with Quillen that we can't get and maybe lee or Lemieux that we may get to see later this year.. Other then those I can't see anyone challenging him..Cotto would get destroyed imo...
Maybe if Lara, Andrade, and Canelo moved up it wouldn't look so bad at 160. Looks like they have the frames to fight in that division

dude, the HW division is just trash. the fighters are either fat slobs with no desire or have no talent and skill. its just a **** division.

MW is okay, its not great or terrible. GGG has been fighting a lot of bums, thats just a fact. he has been fighting good fighters too though, murray being the best example.

lets be honest, there isnt anyobdy other than golovkin who is a p4p talent at 160lbs. there is nobody other than him with star potential, which is why he is dominating the way he is. that said these other guys arent bums, they just arent p4p material or have star potential which is why the only fighter who does is blowing them away.

its hard t say how good GGG is atm, he still hasnt faced a special fighter. there is no donaire to his rigo, no pacquiao to his marquez (and vice versa) etc. but he has fought several solid guys and one very good fighter.

he will make his mark by dominating for a prolonged period of time then either move up to 168 where there is elite p4p talent or someone will come along at 160 one way or another. then people will look at these earlier fights differently.
