Miguel Cotto was not the one who cut the negotiations for Canelo fight, was Canelos team because they want to fight in May 2nd or a week later and Cotto wants to fight in June. Canelos team and Golden Boy were the one who were talkin about the dam 5 de mayo weekend who any american gives a f....k about that weekend. Canelo could fight Cotto in June at the MSG but they didn't want it. Another thing is Cotto is not going to stay at MW, he is not a MW, he is going to fight Bradley or Lara at 154.5 or 155 and stay at super WW division. I don't see the problem, if GGG wants to do a PPV, he can go up tp 168 and face Ward and get his ass schooled.

Martinez can fight Cotto for the MW title and it's fine, even though Cotto was never a MW.

Cotto beats him, gets a voluntary defense, is exercising that right but Cotto is picking on the little guy? What's changed peoples mind that one is okay but not the other? with cotto and Martinez, they were only 1 division apart. Rios can probably still be considered new at welterweight (2 divisions lower). I think that makes the situation much different already.

Good question and there shouldn't be any excuse to allow anyone to do such a travesty. If Cotto fights by June 2015 that would be a whole year since holding the spurious title and how the WBC could allow an "optional defense" with someone 2 divisions lower??? (no WW or JMW is currentlly on the top 10 of the MW division) and even more pathetic knowing that probably it could take another 6-12 months for him to attempt to make a real defense of that title. its accually pretty simple and its the same way pacman fought margarito for a strap at 154 when niether fighter was ranked at 154 and between the 2 of them only 1 fight was ever held at 154 and that was margarito and to this day only 1 fight at 154 has ever beed held by either pac or margarito.

cottos opponent hasnt been anounced so until then who cares no one in this forum is going to dictate any terms to anyone. when the fight is made then cry about it. but dont talk and get all butt hurt when a fighter doesnt announce a fight.

It's okay to duck GGG for a guy for more money and ONLY one division lower than you now... Wow, the integrity for the sport and boxing is completely pure around these parts lol. Stop trying to save face, you most of all LMFAO!!!! And Cotto might not even end up fighting Bradley, Molina is thinking he might have a shot so... who knows.
