am I reaching if I assume you've never stepped foot in the ring a day of your life.
you just don't one day go in the gym and never fought a certain way and try it and it expect it to work in your next fight.
Manny isn't a cerebral fighter....he is instinctive, active...mayweather is calculated and reflexive
Manny makes a lot of unnecessary movements and Mayweather is a tactician where every move has a purpose
Roach is not the best trainer at making mid fight instruction adjustments....Manny usually took over fights with physicality, not changing his gameplan or taking a fighters best assets away.
When Morales was backing him up and busting him up in the first fight, Manny didn't change anything up.
He fought Marquez 4 times and fought him the same way each time, safe the 3rd fight which Many think he lost as I do
Against Bradley he didn't adapt or step on the gas...Bradley fought the wrong fight...throwing bombs when he has no power and he is a far better boxer than brawler
you'll see when they fightComment

So faster=better? Floyd has incredible footwork, Pac has incredibly fast feet....Hatton had fast feet, and....Floyd has aged and lost a step. Pac throws at all angles but has to break that distance or it will all be for naught. It is easy to counter just keep your right foot outside of Floyds left.
Footwork controls the distance.
You really think Floyd has the better footwork?
Pacquiao move while he is throwing and throws in bunches. Floyd don't want to get into a fire fight with Pacquiao.
So he will hold and try and slow Pacquiao down.
Hopefully there is a good ref in there that will stop Floyd from cheating.
There are just so many variables to consider but I would not want to bet my reputation on this fight thinking pac has "better" footwork than Floyd.Comment

No, it quite simple easy. Judah would throw first and when he did, he had success.
Watch the first 4 rounds.
From your posts I can only assume, A you never saw the fight, or B you really don't understand boxing as well you say you do.
No wonder you have to listen for other people opinion.Comment

5 or 6 years ago I would have probably been willing to bet my san francisco condo that Floyd would make easy work out of Manny....goes to show how there are so many different points of viewComment

Finally the moment of truth...Miss Flor Mayweather Jr. facing the Great Manny Pacquiao in the ring. Nothing in between them, you can run but you can't hide. This is the moment every boxing aficionado is waiting for. Especially for the Pacman who have signed the contract prior to the announcement of the fight. Miss Flor Mayweather Jr. will have the chance to experience what other boxers has been saying..."once Manny Pacquiao hits you , then everything will be different and you will abandon your game plan". No more Mr. Nice Guy, people have observed Manny Pacquiao showing concern to other fighters he fought before but not in this fight with Miss Flor Mayweather Jr... the whole boxing world is expecting to see the Pacman giving Miss Flor Mayweather Jr. a good beating.Comment

Fact. Floyd has never fought a fighter in his cherry picking career that throws as many punches per round than Manny. Most of his fighter were slow and flat footed and threw dlck for punches. when you got a thousand punches in a fight coming at you and a steady work rate with insane movement...its real hard to get off a punch that will end a fight. JMM had 4 tries to land one punch.the point is Mayweather is the caliber of fighter where doing the same thing for 12 rounds is not going to work
ODLH....throw hard jabs and flurries when Mayweather is against the ropes....Mayweather took away the jab by jabbing with him, to the head and body, timely counters and bodyshots.......his critics say ODLH got tired and stopped throwing the jab.....news flash, missing punches is more tiring than landing them
Maidana....He would have won if Mayweather didn't run....he got his back off the ropes and stayed in ring center and adapted.....critics...he ran the last half of the fight
Hatton...the ref, the weight class....Hatton turned pro 10 pounds heavier, and had faaaaaaar more fights at 140 and above....he adapted and tapped that ass
Manny doesn't change up his game plan mid fight, Mayweather does it every fight...that will be the difference....their ring iq....not speed, power, endurance, etc
when he beats Pac-Man they already have, ready made excuses....rinse, wash, repeat
Money wont fight him though....he signs to fight....excuses and doubts arise...neverending storyComment

I hope you are right, I don't want to see Pacquiao touching gloves all the time, and showing mercy on Floyd. Finally the moment of truth...Miss Flor Mayweather Jr. facing the Great Manny Pacquiao in the ring. But I think that is who is now.Comment

- Speed can be beaten with timing.
- I don't think Mayweather has problems particularly with southpaws. I've seen him have trouble with both southpaws and orthodox fighters. In fact, I think his toughest fights were against orthodox fighters. But hey, southpaw stance generally does give orthodox fighters some trouble, so if you want to use it for Pac's advantage, go for it.
- Pac's footwork isn't great. His feet movements are athletically pleasing to the eyes, but he makes a lot of wasted movements. And he should also learn to cut off the ring rather than lunging in linearly, which makes it easy for right handers to step outside his lead foot and land the counter right. Sound familiar?
- Combos have advantages and disadvantages. The longer you throw your combos the more vulnerable you leave yourself. Danny Garcia usually lands his left hook during his opponent's combination exchanges. Floyd will potshot him in between those combination punches.
- I'll give him that. I think Manny can go 12 rounds with Floyd without getting tired.
- Oscar says they both hit with the same power. Pac just throws more (which leads to more knockouts). I'll take his word for it.
- Yeah Floyd's more accurate than Pacquiao. But then again, I still remember you're jabs don't count argument. So I'm not going to sit here and try to convince you. You have your mindset.
- I guess we can both agree that Pac has heart.
- No Fear? I think I would use this argument to explain why Pac would lose than why he would win. I always learned that if you fear a man's punch, you will learn to defend it. And "no fear" may sound cool and ballsy, but I've always learned from my fears. So it can be Pacquiao's downfall. But like you said, Pacquiao has been fighting more cautious after the KO, so maybe there is a little fear in there somewhere, eh? Not that it's a bad thing.
If anything I would say Pacquiao's head movement and feints might cause problems for Floyd..Last edited by The_Sandman; 02-21-2015, 11:25 PM.Comment
