i think he thought he would just beat pac again and move up after.

pac didn't try 135 til years later.
I know, I just would have liked to see it since Zahir so decisively beat Erik before Manny did.

Roy Jones, Pernell Whitaker, and Mayweather had no peer talent wise or skill-wise in their prime. they also made it look easy until they reached their mid 30's and were near unbeatable. Manny...well not so much

Not taking anything away from many, he is a great ambassador to the sport, humble, a gentleman and a great fighter, but his fans overblow his accomplishments...sure he won titles at 8 weight classes but look at it this way, when did he actually defeat the number one guy at anyweight....4 times....Saskul(112), Barrera(126), Marquez(130) and Hatton(140)

He has fought at 147 since 08 and never fought the number one guy when it was Cotto, then Margo, then Mosley, and now Mayweather, whereas they are in the same weight and Mayweather is unified WBA/WBC and two time lineal champion. Just facts

that WBC title at 154 was a disgrace....PacMan nor Margarito were even ranked in the weight class

Pacquaio is definitely top ten or top 5 in his generation but he was never perceived as the best nor will he be remembered as the best.

Mayweather has fought 16 less times than Manny and has almost twice as many title fights, beat more champions and hall of famers, defended his titles more, most trainers and fighters and former fighters have acknowledged he has been the best since the early 2000's

....a message board poll doesn't reflect the opinion of the millions of people who really follow boxing. It took Mayweather to retire for 2 years for Manny to even be considered top p4p, whereas Mayweather has been a top ten p4p guy since 1998, when most didn't even know who Manny was

Roy didn't have great skill, thats why he gets his ass beat so much. Hopkins as skill, that is why he schooled Roy in the rematch.

Roy just had a ton of athletic talent, that was largely due to PEDs. Roy was super hopped up on drugs it wasn't even funny. Right after Balco went bust he got killed by Tarver, cuz he didn't have his drugs for that fight. But he was insanely fast and powerful at his best, still hard to give him much props since we all know he was cheating.

Pac is the best. He's the only global icon out of the group. No one gives a fugg about any of the other fighters outside of boxing fans. Pac is the biggest fighter since Tyson, culturally.

ledwaba was one of the top 122 guys when pac got his belt.

jmm was where he got his 130 belt from. he was a top 130 guy.

cotto was a top 147 guy. that's how pac got his 147 belt.

so.... what are you talking about?

all of roy's losses was after he was old. except the griffin dq.

roy had nothing to do with balco.

he got busted for some GNC over the counter crap.

Great to see Pacquiao getting some love and appreciation! He is truly a legend and ATG athlete.

                      FIGHTER OF THE DECADE
                      4 division lineal champion
                      3x fighter of the year

If someone can atleast come close to this then he could be considered to be above pac in this era.
