no fighter in history "fought everyone"

the closest we got is Ali but he didn't fight everyone either

Anybody's resume can be picked apart but Pacquaio was the flyweight champion in the late 90's and moved up to 122 and beat Ledwaba for a belt and during those years he missed fighting Johnny Tapia, Marc Too Sharp Johnson, Paulie Ayala(ring champ when Pacquaio was IBF titlist), Bones Adams, Israel Vazquez

.....@ 135 he fought David Diaz when the weight class was loaded and never fought Nate Campbell, Juan Diaz, Casamayor, etc.

@ 147 he never fought the number one guy, Mayweather is a two time lineal and ring champion while he just held the WBO trinket....Mosley was number one, he didn't fight him til he went 1-1-1 prior to them finally meeting

Manny didn't fight everyone, smoke and mirrors guys no fighter has fought everyone

I didn't say or imply if you lost you couldn't be the best of your generation. why are you taking what I said to the extreme? I asked a simple question.

Ali lost to ATG HOF opponent before he declined. Not every fighter has those kind of losses on his resume. As for OUR generation- there is a fighter who has losses to such poor opposition that it should be factored in. Then in his prime, he also lost to great opposition-whereas others didn't lose. That should be factored in.

The discussion about greatest of the generation can't be limited to just what is the "best win". "Bad losses" have to be factored in as well.

well, unless he's got 100 wins on that resume and you have to do a song and dance to big-up the guy, its a tough argument

hell, when you talk about Roy, i say Hopkins and Toney and your argument is solid as hell

"Fought everyone" means "doesn't have obvious gaps against prominent fighters in his weight class/es"

            Relatively, YES Pac "fought everyone."

            Floyd notsomuch.

That said, I still voted Floyd as best of era.

                  Pacquiao

Just a better resume, this is where cheery picking bites other fighters in the a$$ when their careers are over.

Pacquiao took alot if risk, and so he reaps the rewards.

Pacquiao also went up in weight, not only won, but dominated fighters.

                  Pacquiao has wins against:

                  Eric Morales(x2)
                  Barrera(x2)
                  JMM(x2)
                  ODH(stoppage)
                  Cotto(stoppage)
                  Hatton (KO'ed Rnd 2)
                  Mosley(complete domination, had him running)
                  Timothy Bradley

And these are just the guys at the heavier weights.

                  Resume speaks for itself.

                  good day.

Chavez was an ATG well before he hit 100 wins so that's irrelevant. Again, it's not just about "who was your biggest win and were they a prime HOF'er?" Mosley is likely going to the HOF. Vernon Forrest? Not so much.

Ultimately it's about who you beat, when you beat them, who beat you, when they beat you. Mayweather & Pacquiao are close enough to where I still say we'll have to wait until they retire. But as it stands today, I think Mayweather's the best fighter of this era. A fight between the two is all we need.

So Pernell can walk down Canelo without getting touched? Im reckon he would get KTFO if he tried. He always got beat up and hit whether u were a bum or an elite. And the fact that he wasnt dedicated is another strike against him.

Floyd dont play that lazy mess! Nor the drugs.
