I don't need to read up on it. But you clearly do. Any WBO belt holder, immediately gave up his belt if they wanted to challenge for another belt. It wasn't recognized by ring, which is why Lennox Lewis, Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield etc all at one point were recognized as undisputed champion without having the WBO which was introduced in '88.

I'm not sure in what world we recognize guys like Herbie Hide, Ray Mercer, Francesco Damiani, Tommy Morrison and Michael Bennt as former heavyweight world champions, but it's not this one.
