Showtime Sports Executive VP Stephen Espinoza admits there is urgency to get a deal done for Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao but they are not at the point of being in a chaotic period because of timeframe to finalize a May 2 date. Mayweather has an exclusive contract with Showtime, while Pacquiao is contracted to rival network HBO.
There are a few issues outstanding before a deal can be completed, and Espinoza says those issues are significant in nature. He denies any reports of Mayweather dragging his feet to make a deal.
The two fighters met face to face last week in a Miami hotel suite, where Mayweather tried to work out some of the outstanding issues.
