even if statistically it means nothing, is everything really measurable in sports? things like the boxers feeling, confidence, timing. like i said ive never been the best in the world at anything so i dont know if or how much gloves could affect anything.

Lol my bad, it's really not anything that intense though. Basic Statistics courses in any reputable university will cover statistical significance.

What it means is that legal glove selection is not of statistical significance in determining the outcome of fights.

This doesn't mean it doesn't influence or can't determine the outcome of a fight; but by extension everything poses the potential to influence a fight.

If Mayweather were cranky, that could cause an influence (cause him to be more risky, ****** etc). If Pac were hungry that could influence the fight.

The real point being made here is that historically, within the realm of selecting LEGAL gloves there has been nothing of note to suggest the selection of legal gloves has had any significance in the actual outcome of fights. It is a factor amongst many other factors of which the influence appears to be very small.

In summation, I can't really think of a fight that I have ever watched/that boxing pundits suggested that if a guy got to wear a certain brand of legal gloves the fight would have been significantly different.

i get what you are saying but is that not the beauty of sports? the unknown. what if boxer A in orthopedic gloves KDs someone but in punchers gloves may have completely knocked him out cold? Maybe statistically this is a one a trillion chance but thats why i watch sports, to witness that miracle chance.

I fully agree with this. People are willing to wait and be patient as long as there is integrity with the ongoing negotiation. But the way things are going now, you don't know who and what to believe anymore which is kind of draining us out. Which direction the fight is going? Is it heading South? North? No one knows.

Thats not the beauty of sport , thats the beauty of hype .

If the difference between gloves made the difference between winning and losing everybody would be made to wear the same glove , the difference in using them is more about what feels good to the fighter than anything else .

You are arguing fan hype , you will never convince pro runners that Usan Bolt wins because of his shoe , but I bet you it would not be hard to convince haters that its his shoes , if you talk to any fighters the difference in gloves you get hit with is of no importance , the hand in them is what matters .

Dictating the gloves worn is more mind games than anything else , and its the A sides right if you follow history .

The folks at HBO apparently don't think that Manny is going to win. Big deal. Showtime should just bend on this one and allow it to be shown jointly. Or HBO should quit being fucking babies and let Showtime show it. I don't care either way, I just think it's a ridiculous thing to argue about.
Why should Showtime bend here when HBO refused to bend in the Lewis-Tyson talks?

Showtime walks into the talks with the better fighter and the bigger star; HBO should gamble just like they forced Showtime to gamble.

Your right they should gamble , but when you realize the money involved to them is huge , the logical bet as far as HBO is concerned is Manny is going to lose , they are making factual logic based decisions they are not fanboy emotional , so rather than just give that away they want to negotiate every inch , this is the holdup , the networks and both sides will say they not the ones we are good to go .

Fight will happen after they squabble for every crumb .
