    Thoughts?

It's the "Western Heavyweight Title" now (the WBC)...

As if he'd ever defend against a top Euro boxer and lose it all AGAIN!

They just be passing the title around amongst themselves now.

Before long, they'll be claiming that they were the real champs all along

I don't see what the big deal is? Dude just got a belt and they are going to try and hype him up in the states fighting beatable foes and getting the HW exciting once again before they go for the top dogs (haha top dogs in the HW division, makes me laugh just typing that). I'm sure we won't see him fighting any big names for the entire year, more likely till summer 2016.

        I'd have taken the fight.

But I don't think he could beat Povetkin. Maybe his handlers agree and therefore won't take the risk.

How can Povetkin beat him though? Wilder is taller and bigger!

Isn't that your whole mantra? ;-)

Having skimmed a bit of the responses, I reckon the above one is one of the more epic excuses:

"When you are a World champion, I am fine with you turning Down monster purses and avoiding all the dangerous contenders as long as you fight your mandatories."

              Seriously wtf?

If I see an Ottke or Calzaghe bashing thread, I'll drop you a hint so you can come in with a defense.

Well if these contenders were so dangerous why don't they work themselves into a mandatory position so the champ can't say no? There are a ton of guys calling out Wlad who he won't end up fighting, is he ducking all of them?

This is becoming typical of Haymon fighters turning down astronomical sums of money. It seems clear that Haymon is promising them the moon and the stars, plus easier fights.

His handlers know the moment he steps up he's going to be put to sleep.

If you still need time to develop, you shouldn't be doing it while holding onto a paper belt, trying to act like you're the champ. When you do that, you rightly receive the scorn of fans, especially when you start dodging opponents. When Povetkin becomes the mandatory, watch Wilder vacate.
