This was fairly similar to the Jirov fight...except Toney didn't give the same performance in the 12th round.

Toney landed the cleaner, harder shots...got little credit for his jabs/hooks to the body...Rahman fought a spirited fight and threw a ton of punches.

I has a 6-6 fight, a couple swing rounds, but I thought Toney did the better work. Rahman showed a good jab but could not land anything of note after the first few rounds. A couple of right hands while he was holding, but nothing that had James in bad shape whatsoever. I hope no one scored for Rahman knocking James off balance with shots that did not connect...

I want to see another one between these two. Good fight.

I had Toney 8 rounds to 4 but there is no question that this was the worst James Toney we've ever seen. It wasn't that he was 237. He was 233 against Guinn and looked great. At four pounds heavier and a few months older, he suddenly looked slow and old and perhaps the weight was misleading as he seemed even less muscular. I thought Toney was the best HW in the division and although I thought he won and is better than Rahman, I have no doubts that he'd be a significant dog to Wlad and is clearly not the division savior I thought he was

I'm a big toney fan, but I still had rahman ahead 113-115. It was a close fight, but Rahman was still much busier while did nothing for long periods of time. I definitely thought the 116-112 score from HBO was unrealistic as the fight was very competitive throughout.

ROck was busier but he missed shots and its not like the won on ring generalship. Toney has always been tough to score though because he doesn't fight like other people

You are very correct there. Telling through the general feeling people had about Jirov/Toney and Griffin/Toney II. Hell, even the last few rounds of the Nunn/Toney fight some will tell you that Nunn won every round until the 11th...

I think in a close fight like this, cleaner/harder shots should be the deciding factor. Afterall, boxing really does usually come down to who lands better punches.
