======i give props to rahman i thought that he was going to be lazy and he was quite the opposite. he used his jab pretty good too, which i also thought he was going to forget to use.========

** He didn't use his jab enough because it was too easy to move inside and lean on Toney and clock him with rights and lefts. This was the easiest fight Rahman has had in at least 6 yrs.

rahman never really hit james clean...what it was, was rahmans strength his weight and conditioning.. remember he Benchpresses over 500 lbs has a huge reach 84 inches ...it was all the leaning ..what got me was they said all toney does is spar nothing else over 300 rounds

** Rahman hit him clean enough to keep Toney in reverse all night long. Toney couldn't keep Rahman off him and Rock took away Toney's overrated inside game.

It's all that sparring time that's gonna leave Toney punch drunk. I could barely understand his interview and he was busy talking to himself while Merchant was asking him questions. He not only has an eating disorder, but a mental condition now too.

Toney looked disgraceful. His performance was LOUSY. Rahman should've have won easily but he did exactly what everyone said he shouldnt have done and thats fight TOney on this inside. TOney was sluggish and off balance. And I didnt realize how feather fisted Toney was at this weight. HE was landing very big, clean shots and shakey chin Rahman walked right through him, Manny was right, if Toney had any power it would've been a KO. I couldnt score the fight well because I missed the first three rounds and I was kinda drunk but Rahman looked like he was winning. It was close but Toney and everyone else is ******ed if they think he's gonna unify the belts if he shows up like that the rest of his fights.

....Raesaad and I watched this fight together last night and we thought the one judge who had the wide margin for Rahman was smoking crack. If you held a gun to my head and made me choose I might give Rahman the fight 115-113. However, it was damn close to a draw and I could have seen it called that way possibly. I suppose Rahman deserved credit for pushing the action but Toney landed the cleaner punches. That was a hard assed fight to score IMO. Anyway, two pretty good but not great heavies in a decent fight. It sucks that there was no resolution really and the heavies are right back where they were with these two fighting again I'm sure. Only Wlad/Byrd will add a little clarity in the near future.

              8-4 Rahman.
All in all it was a terrible fight. No highpoints, nothing to get you to sit up, it resembled 12 rounds of sparring in the gym instead of a 12 round championship fight.

Rahman or Toney never really let their hands go. Toney threw punches at times with bad intent but it seemed as if they had nothing on them and by round 7 or 8 he was gassed. So much for all those who said Toney would still look as good in the 12th as he does in the 1st.I dont know who will want to give Toney another shot now after last night. Now he can eat all he wants at Burger King and it wont matter.

Rahman is IMO a step above Ruiz in the boring factor. He was afraid to throw his right for fear of a Toney counter so all we got was a big dose of his jab all night. His next fight will most likely end his title reign and he will move on to obscurity.

I had hoped for a much better fight from Toney until I saw his weight. I thought he would spank Rahman. But this is what you get from a dead heavyweight division. A crappy matchup we all hype and then seem surprised when it turns into a dud.

thats how i feel about it, rahman was punching like a lightweight and he's a heavyweight c'mon.

Totally disagree. A draw was the right call IMO, Rahman didn't beat james at his own game, james was winning on the inside thats why he got the draw. Rahman was reluctant to throw that right hand, because james is an excellent counter puncher. If james would have showed up in shape, he definately would have won. such a shame really, but nonetheless both fighters still put up one hell of a fight, and I give props to both. But toney I still give props more to, for almost beating an inshape determined rahman. I cant remember the last time I seen rahman throw that many punches all 12 rounds and still really didn't look gassed. Great performances from both, but james IMO should get the respect he deserves after that fight just because it was a determined rahman, stronger, bigger fighter whose whole career has been at heavyweight and still managed to get a draw.. as opposed to toney being out of shape, and still somewhat took rahman to school with his skills. I think rahman has been working on his jab a lot more lately because it seemed crisper than what it usually did. Rahman's jab was the biggest factor in scoring it for rahman.

forgot to add, there needs to be a rematch again soon hopefully would love to see another good fight like that again and maybe this time james will show up in better shape, which I doubt but my faith is still in toney.. Savior of the heavyweight division? probably not, but I really appreciate the mans skills and he is truly a great fighter. Just sucks that he could have had the gold around his waist if he would have prepared better. Maybe this could be a reality check for toney and he can skip some rope or something to get his weight down. all the man wants to do is spar, which is a great way to train but.. if he was really focused and comes in the next fight in better shape I think he could make some more noise in the heavyweight division
