Jose Luis Castillo is the best Lightweight of his era, fought and beat pretty much any LW around, and was universally seen as THE GUY there.

Oscar.....I agree. He was past his prime. But that fight needed to happen.

Ricky Hatton was undefeated and #8 P4P.

Juan Manuel Marquez.....even in 2009 at WW is a better fighter than Carl Froch. Marquez would go on to legitimize that win for Floyd by beating Pacquiao at WW.

Shane Mosley was the #3 P4P fighter going into their fight, though he was past his best.

Miguel Cotto isn't prime but he sure as hell wasn't past it in 2012, and is a better fighter than Carl Froch.

Canelo is in his prime or the early stages of it, and was coming off a huge win over Trout.

All these guys will be seen as better wins than Froch or at least as good.
What a joke, you didn't even mention the best wins of those guys. Come on. Tell me just ONE of Floyd's opponents who, at the time Floyd fought them, was better than Froch and based on which wins.

Yes, Floyd is a better boxer than Froch, everyone knows that, Floyd just haven't beaten an opponent on par with Froch.
What were Bute, Groves, Kessler, and Abraham's best wins before fighting Froch?

Genaro was the THE GUY at 130 back in 98 when Floyd beat him.

Corrales was #5 P4P undefeated. He wound up with wins over R Garcia, Gainer, Manfredy, Casamayor, Freitas, and Castillo. He was ALWAYS one of the best fighters around 130-135 during his time.

Castillo is the best Lightweight of his era. Wins over Johnston, Lazcano, Corrales, Casamayor, Bazan, J Diaz, etc. He beat pretty much everyone. He also could lay claim to have beaten Floyd back in 2002.

De La Hoya is an ATG. Yes he was past his best when Floyd fought him though. But that fight was THE FIGHT EVERYONE WANTED.

Hatton was undefeated and #8 P4P. The guy at 140. Everyone was cool with that fight when it went down. Hatton wound up with wins over Tszyu, Collazo (disputed though), Urango, Lazcano, and Paulie.

Marquez is an ATG, and would go on to beat Pacquiao at 147. Nuff said.

Mosley is a great fighter, and was the #3 P4P fighter coming off a huge win over Margarito. Everyone wanted that fight and said Floyd would duck him.

Cotto is a very good fighter, has been one of the best guys around during his time. And was #1 at 154 when Floyd fought him. He wasn't prime but certainly not done by any means.

And Canelo was coming off a huge win over Trout, and has gone to get a couple more good wins since. I have no doubt Canelo will go down better than Froch someday. He's still only like 24 years old and already has 3 wins over top guys at his weight.

Abraham defeated prime Edison Miranda, who was a monstrous KO fighter. Kessler defeated Froch previously and got wins against undefeated Andrade, undefeated Sartison and he also defeated a prime Mundine.

You're showing your lack of knowledge when it comes to the fighters Floyd fought during the late 90's/early 00's. Probably weren't following boxing back then though. So I get it.

It's just a Britard who already started hyping Carl Froch up. I have a feeling if he would retire today they'll start calling him an ATG.

Marquez was not 100% for the Mayweather fight, he had to take on a lot of weight. That fight was like if Floyd moved up to fight Golovkin and Golovkin came in overweight.
