Vitali Klitschko Ibhof?

You do realise you are as bad as some of the Klitschko fanboys when you write this stuff. Torn rotator cuff is a career ending injury...more so than even a cut or anything else, because if your shoulder is gone that's it for boxing...one can only speculate if Vitali could or should have continued, perhaps he could have, but who knows. Where Byrd began his career is irrelevant - he was a HW at the time.
In retrospect, Vitali could have ended his career that night and never become the champ - and for what? He showed he was clearly better than Byrd. However, the funny thing is also when people say he ducked Byrd later. Wladimir fought Byrd in the next fight that year, while Vitali was still injured, and after that it's clearly understandable it would make no sense for Byrd to come of a big loss to a Klitschko brother to go straight back in with Vitali. He himself knew his career at the top would have ended there or certainly slowed with 2 (arguably 3) losses in a row.
Byrd went down a different route, IBF I believe, while Vitali went down the WBC and Wlad was obviously the WBO champion. Byrd did his thing and Vitali went for Lennox. After that was of course the continuation for Vitali getting the WBC belt, and he retired not long after, and when he came back Byrd was no longer relevant...so when you delve deeper and look at things objectively and understand the business, some fights just don't come together due to circumstances.
The Klitschkos are also unfortunate that the greats continuing from the previous era were KO'd by lesser fighters or less household names, before Klitschkos could fight them. Take Tyson for example...Danny Williams KO'd him, not Vitali's fault, but I bet if Vitali had destroyed Mike like he did Williams, even if we all know he was shot, that would be seen as some big milestone in his resume.Comment

yea,,,,the byrd fight wasn't one of his better moments. I felt the same way at the time but he made for it imoMeh I'm not delusional,Byrd was clearly losing due to workrate but he embarrassed Vit badly in that fight... a 6'6 250 pound machine that had to quit against a middleweight.. what a joke
just like B-hop officially lost to Calzaghe (but i do think that was a robbery) to anyone but nutthuggers that was in the top 5 embarrassments of boxing.. he made Calzaghe "the master boxer=best super middle eva girl" look like he just got in the ring for the first time in his lifeComment

It would, as Tyson is seen as a milestone on Lennox' resume for instance, or anybody's for that matter. Vitali doesn't have big names on his resume other than Lennox, but results count and he has em.Comment

Most felt that he quit, but as PainfromUkraine points out, it was a serious injury and he picked it up already early in the fight too. Vitali isn't a quitter, we know that from the Lennox fight, and the Chisora fight for example, where he fought with one arm during most of the bout.Comment

sure he has results and so did brian nielsen. nielsen even beat holmes. hall of fame here he comes!Comment

Sorry but I couldn't see Vitali destroy that Tyson to be honest,Tyson was bombing Williams and got caught in a short exchange with one punch KO power... I can't see Vitali ruining Tyson with one punch... heck he might have outpointed Tyson or forced a corner stoppage late in the fight but nothing in Vitali's past makes me or anyone with half a brain think he would destroy the Tyson that Williams fought
