All right, guys. Here we go.

I looked back at some of Hagler's fights and I admit, that no. He was not one-dimensional. It had been a while for me since I saw them and well, opinions get a bit skewed over time as does the memory.

Looking back at them, I did see his versatility. He moved well and could fight going backward and showed good head movement along with good positioning. So, my hat is off.

In closing though, he is still the last on my list of the fab four. That's not an insult considering that being one of those guys is an amazing feat. When it comes down to it, I did not really like his style or his attitude and I let that reflect in my opinion of him as a fighter which I apologize for.

Now I will go pry this foot from my mouth.

      He isn't underrated by me.

I don't even much like the guy but always put him as my pick for history's best middleweight and he pretty much racked up the creds to make that pick look pretty non-subjective. IOW....he was little hyped as he came up and learned and earned it on the job the hard way.

How can Hagler be the last on your list of the the fab four? He fought the other three:

        -- ass-****d Hearns
-- cruised over Duran (who admittedly was no middleweight, though one of the top 2 or 3 LW's of ALL TIME, and the only guy to beat a prime Leonard)
-- and at the end of his career, well past his prime, lost on points in a very controversial Leonard fight. (Leonard is one of the greatest boxers who ever lived.)

He fought all three, and nobody ever beat him for real. Ever.

Even prime Leonard can't say that.

Hearns broke his hand in the first round and had Hagler bleeding like a stuck hog. A few rounds more and it would have been stopped with the "Hitman's" arms raised. To say he ass-****d him is ridiculous. And for a natural middleweight to knock out a weak-chinned natural welterweight is not a giant feather. Plus, there never was a rematch and definitely should have been.

Leonard won the fight. He duped Hagler into giving him every concession and he gave away the first three rounds. I admit it is a type of win that might have more to do with outside the ring politics, but Leonard won none the less. I am not a Leonard fan, but he impressed me with that one.

Duran was over the hill the first time he fought Leonard, much less when he fought Hagler and he still extended him fifteen rounds in a close fight. If they were both at lightweight, there is no question Duran wins.

Hagler came up the hard way sure. However, what did Duran, Hearns and Leonard do? Get everything handed to them?

Duran grew up poor as **** in Panama. Leonard grew up poor and did get a boost because of his medal but that's how it works. I don't like golden boys either, but they do get a pro boost and should for winning a medal. And Hearns used to take two buses to get to the gym to get his ass beat up at Kronk before he finally learned what he was doing and started trimming everybody. None of them got to where they were by an easy route.

And in closing, as I said, I don't like him. He was bitter about the Leonard fight even though he gave away every concession and he never rematched Hearns and in an interview he claimed that no young fighter could touch him and there hasn't been a decent middleweight since he retired. Don't buy that.
