no one can question Oscar about opposition....It would have made more sense if you said you said he should've fought Winky Wright around that time.

Oscar would have kicked Margos ass from pillar to post in 06-07
Oscar went life and death with Felix Sturm around that time...maybe more like 2000-2002 he would have...I think people forget how shot Oscar really was by the time he fought Floyd and Manny...

      Sturm was at 160

154 was Oscar best weight at the time

Manny was at 147 after not fighting at the weight for 8 years...were you watching boxing in the early 2000s

to add to this only held the WBO title and that's not much incentive when at the time Mayweather had won lineal titles at 3/4 weight classes he competed in.

His biggest win didn't come until Mayweather retired when he beat Cotto

All in all Margarito was never a great fighter, he did notch some good wins but this boogeyman that Floyd avoided isn't what I see.

Just another fighter who gained hype because his promoter kept bring up Mayweather's name

in retrospect, Is a win over Margarito more meaningful than wins over Jose Luis Castillo, Diego Corrales, Shane Mosley, Genaro Hernandez, Canelo Alvarez, Ricky Hatton, Oscar De La Hoya, or Cotto?
Mayweather was offered $8 mil to fight Margarito he turned it down to fight the awesome Carlos Baldomir for far less. Tony Margarito was too big & too strong for Mayweather he would have walked straight through Floyd's pitty pat punches & demolished him. Laughing at Floyd as he did so.

Now lets put Margarito's record straight for you. Fair enough Williams won a very close debateable decision over Margarito. Tony immediately asked for a rematch. Goosen's reply was " Margarito is in out past not our future" He knew it was too big a risk
As for Daniel Santo both losses were due to BLATANT head butts which caused terrible cuts Santos should have been DQ'd both times.
Floyd was terrified of Margarito Have you seen that video on U Tube when Margarito confronted him??? I heard from a guy that was there that Floyd messed his pants in fear. Watch that tape & see Floyd stutter & stammer lol

I get it though..because floyd fought him at 154 where his best win was like Mayorga? He was a stud....Oscar was shot....margarita at that time would have walked him down and battered him...just because Floyd let Oscar back him into the ropes all night and make him look half decent doesn't mean he wasn't a shell of his prime, just means Floyd wasn't that great that night.

Hey just a minute I remember Oscar bragging he wanted the winner of Cotto-Margarito as his final fight to " go out on top" he said. Then he saw Margarito LEGITIMATELY make Cotto kneel & QUIT!! in submission after a hellacious beating & rapidly changed his mind. He wanted NO PART of Margarito. Instead Oscar tried to pick on little Manny Paquaio thinking he'd be easy WRONG!!!!! Manny kicked Oscars butt into retirement ROFL & made me a very happy fan
No one wanted to fight a 100% Margarito It took a juiced to the gills Mosely to beat a sick, weight drained , demoralized Margarito

This. Pretty much sums it up. And a Martinez win in 2009, and a Williams win around the same time. But instead world beaters like Baldomir and 38-year old DE LA Hoya and world beaters like Victor Ortiz were getting shots.

Anyone who can't analyze how Floyd picks his opponents is ******ed, Floyd fans lack critical thinking.

Ok Mr Fantastic If what you say is true then explain to us poor mortals

WHY DID MAYWEATHER BLATANTLY DUCK THEM !!!!!! ???????? If he'd fought them & beat them maybe he would be universally recognized as an ATG. But instead he ducked them & therefore is regarded as just a very talented overhyped COWARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He isn't GREAT! Never will be GREAT!! Talent alone dopes not make a champion or an ATG they need HEART, COURAGE & yes a set of COJONES too. Those 3 things are what Floyd Joy Sinclair Mayweather jr lacks
