to add to this only held the WBO title and that's not much incentive when at the time Mayweather had won lineal titles at 3/4 weight classes he competed in.

His biggest win didn't come until Mayweather retired when he beat Cotto

All in all Margarito was never a great fighter, he did notch some good wins but this boogeyman that Floyd avoided isn't what I see.

Just another fighter who gained hype because his promoter kept bring up Mayweather's name

in retrospect, Is a win over Margarito more meaningful than wins over Jose Luis Castillo, Diego Corrales, Shane Mosley, Genaro Hernandez, Canelo Alvarez, Ricky Hatton, Oscar De La Hoya, or Cotto?
Heck yea! At the time Margarito was the most dangerous man in the sport. Floyd wanted no parts of Magarito.

That is a fight I wanted to see. Of course, Floyd has a justification why it didnt happen. Of course

It ain't hatred you fool. Styles makes fight and Margs would beat the crap out of floyd and floyd knows this, thier is a reason why floyd stayed away from high volume, better stamina then himself, iron chin, cut off the ring skills that Margs brought to the table. This fight would have been Floyd best win if he survived the 12rds

In retrospect it would have been an even greater win than it would seem at the time. Imagine how Floyd and his stans could say that Mayweather beat Antonio Plasterito! A great feat.

It would have done nothing for Mayweathers legacy.

It would have been Mayweather fighting another "slow plodding forward" fighter.

yes it would have... margarito was undefeated wbo champion for nearly 7 years straight... but floyd went and fought sharmba mitchell because, "no one at welterweight will fight me".

I wouldn't have minded seeing him fight Margarito, but he more than made up for it by winning another lineal title at 154, regaining the lineal title at 147 and added wins over Canelo, Maidana, Mosley, and JMM...I JUST DONT THINK A WIN OVER MARGARITO WOULD HAVE MEANT MUCH IN THE LONG RUN, IT WOULD EVEN BE A TOP 5 WIN FOR MAYWEATHER
so its ok that he ducked him you know, cuz he added those "wins"

only a floyd fan would say its ok... "he ducked cotto bro"
floyd fans: "he beat him at his natural weight 154 doe"
                pathetic

Margarito was a top 5 ww off and on for 3 years
while mosley just won his ww belt from margo.... floyd chose to fight lightweight JMM instead... its a duck... "he fought him doe" yea after a year layoff LMAO

He didn't want to make Mayweather-Cotto cause he wanted to let it marinate, he didn't want to make Mayweather-Margarito, when they were in TR. So Floyd left. What did you want him to do, keep fighting the Bruseles's and Mitchell's of the world? Arum was not getting him the fights he wanted, he asked for DLH and Cotto and was rejected by Arum.
hold up... wasn't ya floyd fans saying that floyd "would have", cough cough, fought margo if arum payed him a certain amount of money? LMAO thats called pricing yourself out... and arum wasn't marinating anything, or did you forget what floyd said about cotto:
"he lives too far"... "hes too green. he needs a couple of more tune up fights" then floyd goes and fights cottos old sparring partner bruseles lmao

Gatti will be engraved in boxing history as an entertaining fighter and a warrior, a Hall of Famer. Margarito will go down as a cheater and nothing else.
