Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez and James Kirkland have agreed to terms for a spring showdown, with the date and venue to be firmed up in the coming days.

Talks have circulated all week of the fight becoming an eventual reality, but remained strictly tentative due to the targeted date and the possibility of other fights happening. The bout took a major step towards becoming official when Kirkland and his team confirmed they were on board earlier Friday afternoon.

All parties involved are now on record stating that the fight is in fact a done deal.

No and even without the layoff, Canelo is too sharp for Kirkland's wide open and wreckless style.

I'd give Kirkland a much better chance to win if he was active and trained by Ann Wolfe, but he's only fought 2 times in the last 4 years, smh.
