Alvarez might not be anything special but he's got a good little resume for 24 years old.

    Rhodes
    Cintron
    Trout
    Angulo
    Lara

    Or...

May 2015 - Andrade (WBO JMW title)
Sept 2015 - Cotto (WBC MW title)

At 24, Canelo's in a good place and at least he wants to fight, unlike certain divas holding off on signing contracts.
Age has NOTHING to do with it when you have nearly 50 career fights. He should have been tested 25 fights ago, not 3.

canelo isn't afraid too fight anybody. he's been chasing cotto for over a year and cant get him in the ring and I guarantee you that if canelo and ggg remain undefeated through this year that they will fight in may of 2016 in the biggest fight the sport will have too offer at that time

canelo is connected with Oscar for a reason.

      ducking aint in their blood
He fought Trout after Cotto and he fought Lara after Paul Williams and Angulo, what do you mean nobody wanted to fight him? Biggest crock of **** in boxing that Lara is avoided, he simply brings no money. He was getting beat by Angulo FFS, he's overrated as well.

Loses to Trout, but gets a gift decision.
          Gets absolutely dominated by Mayweather.
          Beats a journeyman.
Loses to Lara, but gets a gift decision.

Personally, I don't find him impressive at all and I don't understand why so many people does. He got an entertaining style, is young and got room for improvement, sure, but many are making him out to be something he is not. I wish him and every other fighter well in the future, but be fair, even if you're a Mexican or a redhead or a fangirl or got some other reason to root for this guy, he is NOT P4P top 10 material right now...
Also heard that he beats up older sparring partners... and that one died and that many mexicans from mexico dont even like canelo at all

I kind of like Canelo...He is very good but not great. He has great belief in himself....even believing that he could out-think and outbox mayweather instead of using his size advantage and try to be a bully. I think he may need a new trainer though. I would love to see canelo-GGG. GGG would win but it would be really entertaining. Canelo, for all of his popularity, really hasn't been in many entertaining bouts yet.

I think there's no doubt that Canelo is a top 10 LMW. I think those who want him to fight GGG right now might be overrating him a little. That, or they just want to see him lose.

No, when the consensus is that he beat two opponents who were viewed as stylistic nightmares for him, Lara and Trout, and he still doesn't get the proper respect around here, that only indicates that he's underrated. I mean, some even thought Angulo was a dangerous opponent.

If it wasn't for his good looks he wouldn't be so popular. Golden Boy sold him to us that he's the next big thing, he's average at best.
Yet Lara couldn't turn him; make him reset within range, that's how concrete feet are supposed to be dealt with.

Go watch him vs Alfonso Gomez, he was outboxed for a few rounds until a bad stoppage. That fight tells you all you need to know about how good this guy is. That being said he's exciting to watch and appears to be willing to fight people so he's good in my book.
