Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: I Don't Think Mayweather Fights Pacquiao

As BoxingScene.com first reported earlier today, Golden Boy Promotions and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez were unable to reach an agreement for a May 2nd fight with WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto. The two sides are now moving in different directions.

De La Hoya made it clear that Canelo has every intention of still moving forward on May 2nd.

However, there are ongoing negotiations for Floyd Mayweather Jr. to face Manny Pacquiao in a super-fight - also on the date of May 2. Although Pacquaio and his promoter, Top Rank, have reached an agreement for their end of the deal - De La Hoya has serious doubts about the fight actually coming off.

      "Network talks stall the fight"

      "Floyd is ducking"

      Something doesn't match.

Oscar is salty as hell right now.

He lost his fighters, will have no involvement in the biggest fight in history and failed at trying to hijack the may 2 date.

You don't know who to believe in all of this. You have Oscar and Canelo pushing for May 2nd, also Oscar (who has nothing to do with this fight), Manny and Arum saying everything has been agreed upon just waiting on Mayweather. Then you hear the networks are trying to figure things out. Who knows what the **** is really happening.

C'mon tell me this is good ol' Boxing smoke n mirrors stuff - not like this fight really needs any publicity stunts whatsoever - a May vs Cotto rematch would get hurt-up PPV numbers because of the fan disappointment factor alone....not to mention that it's a fight we've already seen.....DLH is bs - May-Pac is going down May 2

Like I said before Floyd is waiting for the networks to complete and finalize the contract before he signs because his diva a-- wants to be the one to announce the fight.

You actually believe Floyd Mayweather would sign a contract then sit and wait for the networks to work things out?
