I'm thinking Mayweather v Pacquiao is a lock, for May 2nd, and Canelo is just trying to save face. A bout with Cotto is his only way of competing for the May date; with that in mind, he wouldn't walk away from the negotiations if the possibility to compete was still in existence.

First of all he already fought cotto and it wasn't a close fight so nobody wants to see that again, who cares if its at 155 the answer is nobody, the only difference is neither of them will have to drain down to make weight. Secondly if mayweather fights cotto its obvious that was the plan all along because why else would cotto not sign to fight after golden boy caved in to every demand and also after pacquiao has agreed to all of floyds terms? The only logical explanation would be they planned this all along and there will be a huge boycott of Floyd mayweather and his boring cherry picks. That would be like Manny backing out and fighting cotto again. Doesn't make any sense right? Manny crushed a prime cotto at his best weight nobody would pay to see that again especially if he ducked mayweather in such dramatic fashion

It doesn't matter what date canelo wanted, if mayweather pacquiao happened it would be on HBO and ShowTime so they wouldn't have fought on that date anyway! The network decides who fights when, cotto ducked simply because he doesn't want to fight canelo, and I am a huge cotto fan and could care less about canelo but this is shaneful
