I'm a big Cotto fan myself but lets be serious. Oscar came out and said they would step off the May 2nd date if Pac/Floyd happens for that date.

Cotto has a reputation of turning into a princess during negotiations where he is the A-side. I remember Martinez saying that Cotto was constantly threatening to cancel the fight unless every single demand was met.

Canelo was wanting the May 2nd fight because it's one of the biggest boxing weekends of the year and more importantly it was available. Funny how even Cotto's advisor admits that May 2nd would be a good date for the fight. He goes on to admit that if indeed Pacquiao/Mayweather gets made they'd move the fight to June and more than likely in NYC. Something he acknowledged Canelo has no problem doing.

Cotto here was just stalling for the sake of stalling.

It doesn't matter what date canelo wanted, if mayweather pacquiao happened it would be on HBO and ShowTime so they wouldn't have fought on that date anyway! The network decides who fights when, cotto ducked simply because he doesn't want to fight canelo, and I am a huge cotto fan and could care less about canelo but this is shaneful
