When are people going to realize failed negotiations are a two way street. Obviously Cotto wouldn't agree to some of the terms whether it was date, venue, money, etc. The same can be said about Alvarez. Why is it that Cotto has to agree to their terms by a deadline? If they really wanted the fight why couldn't they concede to some of Cotto's terms? Whether it was June, MSG, etc. Seems like they thought they could throw money at him and get May 2nd, Texas, or whatever else they wanted. Doesn't seem like Miguel is too keen on fighting without Freddie at this stage of his career so until they figure out when Pac fights how the hell can Miguel agree to anything. Team Canelo was desperate from the start to challenge Floyd for that May date and this is what happens, they get ****ted on.

So what's wrong with waiting until May/Pac gets figured out? That's all Cotto is doing, like you say what if they do fight, what's the point of signing a contract for May 2nd then? You would either be forced to go up against it or have to go through negotiations all over again for the new date. The fight would also move your training camp out 4 weeks, what if they start camp AND THEN Floyd/Pac somehow gets done? That's just dumb thinking, again just wait until it's figured out and that's all Cotto is doing. Canelo is the one who got scared and pulled out not the other way around.

This has nothing to do with Floyd or Manny.

HBO and Showtime want to negotiate May 5 for that fight so why would they care about cotto or canelo?

So have him sign it right now. Next friday May/Pac is announced. Where does that leave Cotto and Canelo? Now they need new contracts for a new date and venue. Now you think Canelo is going to take the same money for having to go to NY in June? You can't call Cotto a ***** because he initially agreed except if that fight was made. It's an entire issue again, if Canelo wants a fight so bad he can just fight in NY in June. I bet you the contracts would be done already if that was the case. May/Pac getting done wouldn't matter on that point, but Canelo wants May 2nd so bad it's somehow Cotto's fault for just waiting.

It's this 100%. It was all about the date, Canelo couldn't beat Floyd in the ring and Oscar hates him. This was all about them two trying to sabotage Floyd and nothing more. The only way they actually had a chance of winning is by fighting Cotto and he's not having any part of it. He has no issue with Floyd so why have it affect his income?

It is ******, that is what is wrong with it. Again, Pacquiao/Mayweather has been talked about and talked about for about 5 years. Even with these recent negotiations there are still many people doubting if the fight ever gets done.

Why would anyone want to wait out that disaster?

You make the fight, and if Pac/May gets announced you move the date.
