There was talk of the Clottey fight not being on PPV. I don't think they're as wedded to it as you say.

Mayweather outboxed Alvarez. There was no whooping, no ass kicking, no beating up. It was an over priced sparring session, nothing more.

Because the more you wait to get a fight, the less time you have to prepare since the May date gets closer and closer.
He has the right to want that date though(not saying he can get it), after all it does fall on a Mexican holiday and he's Mexican.

Cotto ducked a tournament that Canelo wanted to be a part of as well as said no previous offer before. Both are BoxingScene articles.

WTF... it's because he wants to fight on the same day May/Pac will. How ****** is he, really? He would rather duck Cotto than fight him in NY or June or both. He's not only the biggest diva he's also the biggest b*tch doing things like this.

You really think if Pac/May gets signed, he's going to really going to compete with that? I can see him fighting on the undercard or moving the date.
