  • Comments Thread For: Matthysse Hopes To Get To Floyd Mayweather in Time

Lucas Matthysse (36-3, 24KOs) is hoping to make a move to the welterweight division with enough time to challenge the skills of current WBC/WBA world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (47-0, 26KOs).

Matthysse is already in training for a tentative ring return in late February and also revealed earlier on BoxingScene.com that he's been contacted for a fight with former WBO junior welterweight champion Ruslan Provodnikov.

Well, if he beats Broner (or gets other big win, but not many options out there), he could get Mayweather in September.
After he came up short in Garcia fight, seams like he's been forgotten by fans and media, so right now there's 0% chance that Floyd chooses him.

Beating Garcia would have been the perfect platform for a Floyd fight in May last year. His stock was really high going into that fight and he fought on the big stage but i doubt he will get a shot now.
