    I don't either.

But it would be more so than Hopkins.

If anything I think he would have taken confidence from Hopkins, yeah he struggled, but he won both, even if people felt he didn't their was no backlash on either and he pulled out the W.

I doubt he himself didn't expect some problems in those fights.

He did get the win (although that first fight decision was absolutely bogus to me). But he took a hell of a beating that fight, over the last six rounds. I really thought that was an underrated performance by Hopkins. One thing we can agree on -- Taylor was just never that good.

Mora is the kind of boxer he usually beats.
Taylor looked like crap against Cory Spinks, who didn't hit any harder than Mora.

He looked like crap or lost to just about every above average fighter he fought to be honest.

          Reminds me of Andre Berto.

He's not THAT bad. I think he's a few steps ahead of Berto. He has an excellent jab to go along with his athleticism, much better ring sense than Berto and has two wins over Hopkins (although I had the series 1-1 if I recall), and a close fight with Winky. I don't think Berto could ever beat a fighter on the level of a B-Hop.

I thought at the time that after facing Hopkins twice and then Winky, he would be a well schooled fighter. But the reality is that his performances steadily declined.

Also I think that Steward was a very bad fit for him as a trainer.

Why does anyone even mention Hopkins as some reason for Taylor's downfall? He didn't do anything really in two fights with him so I don't know how his feinting, posturing, and holding for 24 rounds "ruined" Taylor.

Yes most definitely, in a purely physical sense. He barely lasted 12 rounds in top level fights since, although he did ok in a rematch and did ok for a while against Froch but he just wasn't the same fighter.

from a psychological stand point, who knows, maybe that freak was always crazy

agreed. he never learned how to hold anytime his opponent was about to throw a punch at him. the best way to prevent from being knocked out. don't let your opponents punch.

The second round in the 1st Pavlik fight was the beginning of the end for Taylor. Everything all went down hill after...even though none of us could've predict what happened to him versus Froch in the 12th.
