proves exactly what ive been saying the whole time ive been on this site. Floyd ducked cotto at 147 lbs after cotto beat mosley. Cotto was the second best welterweight right after floyd. A possible fight wouldve happen the next year, but... floyd "retired".

Was he suggesting that he was feeling that cotto, at that time, would "retire" him?

maybe just maybe they think the champ should face the #1 guy like in any other sport otherwise he could just cherrypick forever and still technically be champ. is that the system you want?

I believe Fraud is not the champ in their rankings because he broke his lineage when he retired for two years when the division was hot, which is fair enough imo.

He should fight Pacquiao to establish the champ, some people act like he has beaten Pac or something.

As to Chaves, Ring have him at #10 on their list too.

And Ortiz) also top ten guys Guerrero, and maidana...champs moving up to challenge him in jmm(135), hatton (140, but won the wba title at 147 prior)

He has the best ww resume of anyone in the top ten that's really nothing to dispute about that

PACs claim was thrown out the window win jmm khtfo....all roads lead the Floyd for PAC to be the champion... Floyd gained lineage by beating Mosley who beat Margo who was #1 after he beat cotto

PAC has never beat the number 1 or 2 guy at anytime @ ww so he has no claim at all besides the lesser of alphabet titles WBOgus

Floyd and his fans can talk all they want but he will NEVER be considered #1 by the majority until he fights and beats PAC, if he even can.. Can't call yourself #1 P4P, TBE, or whatever when you've been duckin the "#2" guy like the plague for over FIVE YEARS.

                    FIVE FREAKIN YEARS!

For all intents and purposes tho, Shane established a new lineage by beating Margarito.
                      I don't think you're right. Here's Spring Toledo's take:

Mararito was ranked #4 when he faced Cotto, who was #1 according to The Ring before their bout.

Margarito was #1 and Mosley was #3 when they fought, with Cotto at #2. Floyd was #3 and Mosley #2 when they fought, with Pacquiao at #1.

There have been no #1 vs. #2 matches at Welterweight since Floyd retired in 2008.
As for Cruiserweight, I flat out refuse to accept a lineal champion, when Hernandez was gifted that title (by SOME outlets) by winning a rubber rematch over Cunningham. Marco Huck was still ranked no.1 at the time by most people. I think Cunningham ranked over Huck in NSB's rankings, though not by many others. Their excuse was that Huck challenged Povetkin at Heavyweight...
