How reliable have you found BoxRec to be?

As far as listing dates they often prematurely put up a fight that isn't signed yet. We all know Pac vs Floyd isn't signed yet, they just put it up there based on opinions, etc. They'll end up removing it later once it's announced they failed to reach an agreement.
They are reliable as far as factual information regarding fights and current and modern era fighters records, judges, refs, etc.. It gets a bit fuzzy though the further back in time you go a lot of guys may have incorrect records because the database may not have complete list of fighters back in the 40's and 50's for example. A fighter could be listed as 13-38 but in reality the guy could have fought 200 times for all we know.Comment

Its pretty good, I usually check it to see whose fighting who in their next fight and I haven't been let down yet.Comment

No I'm not going to search for links of how many times they've been wrong. It's really not that serious. It's one of those things when you're put on the spot and you can't think of an example, but later you'll remember a bunch. That's what's happening to me right now. All I can say is it happens numerous times a year. It's pretty well known that they jump the gun frequently and they'll list upcoming fights based on speculation. I'm sure other people can remember a ton.Comment

Well I'm sure they still go off their computer generated ratings. So that's why Herrera is ranked so low. His recent two losses, which should have been wins, bump him down a lot. That's the problem with a computer generated ranking system you can't really factor in human opinion, which is why some of their rankings come out looking pretty wacky at times. But I don't mind it, at least it's something different. They should continue tweaking it though.Comment

I for one am very grateful to all the volunteers on BoxRec. I wouldn't be able to fully enjoy the sport without that great website.
Overall, they do a GREAT job.
Every manager and promoter uses Boxrec.Comment

I agree, it's a wonderful website, extremely resourceful. It's not a diss on them at all that they jump the gun for potential fights and list them prior to being signed. Sometimes they are wrong, it happens.Comment
