Ya to add to your story -- Vitali wasn't scheduled to fight anyone the caliber of Lewis. He was scheduled to face a 6'3" Cedric Boswell with a complete padded record and way under the caliber of Kirk Johnson.-- so I think the last minute notice effected him a lot more than Lewis who at least was already training for a championship fight. The Klitschko's are known for studying their opponents extensively in training camp. This is part of what makes them great. So with this major factor eliminated from his preparations this even further made the last minute fight harder for Klitschko vs Lewis.

Except the fact that Vitali was already studying Lewis for quite a while believing he'd eventually get his shot at him. He admitted this himself. Lewis was coming back from a year off and semi-retirement.

I think wlad would have been dangerous for lewis tho becuz of his big power. he hits much harder than vitali. its not like lewis hasn't been starched by lesser punchers either. I could see either guy going down just as easily as the other. if I was forced to bet on it id favor lennox tho,,,but not by alot

The way I see it is that Lewis simply did not prepare properly and normally I would hold his two losses against him if not for the fact that he owned both guys in the rematches. Amazing to think that he beat every fighter he has ever faced and even when he was way past his prime, he turned Vitali into a bloody mess.

If Briggs could be 'The Man' in the 90's, I'm pretty sure either Klitschko in their fighting primes, could have. Especially Vitali. The version of Vitali that came back and beat up Peter would have beaten anyone in the era, incl. Lennox.

Briggs was never THE guy. And I'm not talking about being the man at a specific point in the era. I'm talking about being the man of the era. Neither of the Klitschko's could pull that off. Just like Lennox, Bowe, Tyson, Holyfield etc couldn't either.
