The reward part of the calculation is dependent on Ward actually fighting. You think either Golovkin or Ward want to fight each other off PPV? Golovkin has been doing his side, he has been fighting and building up his popularity. Ward has been doing nothing and he never had a large following to begin with, what following and interest he commanded will only diminish the longer he stays out of the ring.

The only plans Ward has for HBO now are to continue commentating for them. Any other talk is just air. You're speculating on something that probably wouldn't happen anyway, since by the time GGG is ready to move to SMW, Ward will have already been at LHW for a while. Still, it would be an interesting fight.

Feel for Ward having not fought since nov 2013,yes needs some how to get sorted and back in there , a very promising career is going to waste. Golovkin needs to grow a little and clean out the middleweights first but looks a very special fighter. Am looking forward to seeing how long Martin Murray can stay in there.

... Same logic... replace some names and you'll get:

WARD needs to fight Kovalev/Stevenson. WARD has beat anyone of note that will fight him at 168. Like anyone in the past, when you clean out a division, or face everyone you can, you move up .... It's time for him to move up. He's quick to call Golovkin to move up for him but continues to push away from the idea of moving up to face KOVALEV/STEVENSON/BETERBIEV. It's time.

Actions speak louder than words. Ward can say all he wants, yet he remains inactive.

Typical GGG fan - read an article but didn't read it.. look towards the end of the last Paragraph he mentioned your 2nd crush Kovalev . Virgil hunter was conducting an interview and was very respectful - why do people just hate for no reason? GGG and his team want non of Ward !!!! stop making excuses for them, now Kovalev will fight Ward! GGG's team is more interested in building the hype - the hype has been built, when are you guys going to have him fight a real contender??? I see some of the excuses with Ward's inactivity - why do you guys care? If anything its more of a benefit for GGG - you guys know nothing about the sport, just how to be die hard Fans!! You guys are probably the type to kick your dog or the neighbors dog when he losses or even beat your wife / girl friend and kids - sic ***s...
