one fight at 159 lbs against the 160 lbs champ who previously had already fought for that strap at the same 159 lbs catchweight. While I do agree, after canelo cotto either fights GGG or vacates the strap and goes back down to 154 lbs.

The financial situation with Ward is hardly improved by his continued absence. If Ward was actually fighting rather than suing his promoter then with Golovkin's growing popularity the GGG-Ward fight might actually be on the horizon as a big PPV fight.
Best post of the thread. If Ward had been active since his last fight, he might have generated the interest and hype that drives PPV numbers.

As it stands, GGG/Ward doesn't make much money. It's not worthy of PPV at this time, and HBO is not shelling out ~$3 million (1.75 for Ward, 1.25 GGG)for the standard broadcast.

This ongoing conversation about Ward/GGG is pointless. yea we'd like to see it, but it ain't happening any time soon.

Sure you can, you just send an offer, idiot. At least talk to the other promoter, which Ward never did

            1. Cotto demands to defend his 154 belt vs Marg at 150, with 160 rehydration limit
            2. 6 months later he taunts Pac cause he fought Marg at 150, but didnt offer it to Cotto. See link above
            3. Offer made for 150, suddenly Cotto despises CWs
            4. Wins LINEAL mw belt at a cw he demanded. Next fight will also be a cw

Wards last tuneup cost HBO 3m+. No way that would do here, more like 5m

I don't know why I bother coming into these threads anymore. There are some ridiculously obtuse people that constantly post the same drivel despite evidence showing the contrary. Golovkin and Ward fanboys are about equal now.

So I guess this completely excuses Stevenson ducking Kovalev and Quillin ducking GGG?

Of course not, nobody is ****** enough to imply that.

                  Oh wait........

Yup, you are correct. It probably would require at least $5m, and when was the last time HBO committed that much to a non-PPV?
