I find it hard to see Haymon changing his strategy, sadly. His entire history in boxing makes 2014 a natural conclusion, not an aberration. He's in the business of selling personalities, not fights.
Some old-fashioned fans might like the idea of big fights, but there's a lot of other people who like seeing boxers buy a new car on instagram. And that's the audience Haymon sells to.Comment

The whole Haymon enterprise is coming to a tipping out. Mayweather's retirment in the next couple of years exacerbates the pressure on him. Something has to give - either he has to change, or the sport is headed for an implosion. And when it does, I have got a feeling he will just talk away onto his next enterprise, while leaving everyone to pick up the pieces.I find it hard to see Haymon changing his strategy, sadly. And the maddening thing is, it doesn't need to be like this. He doesn't need to attempt this suffocation of the sport.Comment

Great post. Everyone who posts on here needs to read it.
I swear Haymon is like a spawn of Satan. I mean what kinda spineless little pretentious coward doesn't present himself to the public as the mastermind persona he so rigorously tries to portray through the mainstream.Comment

I'm in no way a Haymon supporter, actually I'm the opposite, but the problem is bigger than just himself. He's doing what he is supposed to do. If you're a fighter and he tells you he can get you millions to fight nobody's for two years, you're most likely gonna accept it. And at the same time he'll get more clients that way. The bigger problem is that this type of match making is being accepted. If nobody watches, cosigns, or puts any money whatsoever into guys like Kid Chocolate when they fight club fighters, they won't have a choice other than to face each other. Nobody's going promote a fighter against Rod Salsa if people aren't buying tickets and the ratings are continuously terrible.
I think sooner or later it'll happen though. Just like with the decline in PPV sales, people will just stop caring and stop watching and they'll be forced to match the top fighters against each other. Otherwise he'll just lose all of his clients when they stop making money.Comment

it would be awesome if Al Haymon replied;
"you want it, you got it...Welterweight Tournament on Showtime in 2015"Comment

I do wonder about the choice to remain basically hidden. I used to find it quite interesting but now....with all that is going on.....it sorta adds to the feeling of dislocation. I mean, this is the guy who wants to run the entire sport?Great post. Everyone who posts on here needs to read it.

A dude we have never even read a WRITTEN interview from?
I'm not saying do interviews with Seckbach, but to basically remain distant from the fans.....what is the purpose of this anymore.
Can you at least outline some of your plans for the sport?
Anything?
