Thompson took a massive right hand & got off the canvas to come back & win. Price was in utter shock after that. When has Thompson been dropped like that since? He hasn't! He has been in with takam, pulev, solis since those price fights. Thompson is old & slow but he is crafty. He is big & has a pretty solid chin. TT being 43 might not be the same fighter now but he has proven a very capable HW. He is still in the top 20. You would think AJ should be able to beat him but I think kingpin is the right step at this moment. I'm not certain AJ would blow TT out just yet. Too many questions about AJ at this point just like I said before both price fights. I bet on Thompson both times...I wouldn't exactly call Thompson "the wolves". In my opinion, anyone who believes they have a future as a top heavyweight contender should be able to beat Thompson rather easily. Price got hit with a funny shot the first time, and ****** as they were, they rushed into a rematch thinking it was a fluke.
AJ, in my opinion, would have made relatively easy work of that version of Thompson. Kingpin is a good step up as you say, but once again, if you think of yourself as a future champion, he must be dealt with quite easily.Comment

What big heavyweight has Fury avoided then .... Wlad? Lol.Joshua is the best up-and-coming heavyweight and has a very good promoter who sees his potential.
He'll surpass Fury in quality of opponents by the end of the year, and won't avoid the bigger heavyweights the way Fury has.
I think Joshua is the heir apparent to Wladimir Klitschko as heavyweight champion.
I have a dream that sometime in 2015/16 Joshua will step up and fight Tyson Fury ... in front of a sold out Wembley Stadium for the IBF, WBO, WBC and WBA world heavyweight titles.
Please God, make it happen.Last edited by kafkod; 12-26-2014, 08:42 AM.Comment

Edwina Hearn would be 7 foot tall in her high heels.Kingpin is a step up. Last time an olympic medalist stepped up to fight toney thompsom with 15 fights was david price. He never recovered. AJ has fought the same level of guys price did. Kingpin is a good opponent at this stage. AJ doesnt need to be thrown to the wolves like price was. Look what happened? Price is not even on the HW radar anymore & his promoter came out as a cross dresser. If he handles kingpin then maybe thompson can be considered or chazz witherspoon who is returning to the ring.Comment

I'd like to see 5'10½ , 160 lbs GGG fight 6'8, 250 lbs David Price
In all seriousness, Kovalev could probably move up to heavyweight if he put on a little muscle, but he wouldn't be a puncher at heavyweight and would most likely get himself knocked out.
The problem for him is that there really isn't that many good middleweights to dance with which is quite rare for what is usually a very deep division. However, there are many good fights at 168 that could be intriguing down the line.
He has a lot of way to go before he would even be mentioned in the same breath as Monzon or Hagler for a modern middleweight champion. A long long way.
That being said, he's the real deal.
Yeah that's true. Which is why I don't think he was mentally prepared for that fight. But props to Thompson for scraping himself off the canvas like that.Thompson took a massive right hand & got off the canvas to come back & win. Price was in utter shock after that. I was never sold on Thompson as a top 10 heavyweight. He'll expose you if you aren't the real deal, but lose if you are. That's the kind of guy he is and always was in my opinion. He just had a lot of fights against guys who weren't the real deal or near it, and was lucky to be mandatory twice for Klitschko without even fighting a proper eliminator.
I think AJ would win quite easily, but you never can tell before they fight. HE would be up against a cagey old southpaw who knows a lot of tricks.
Interestingly, Hughie Fury offered Thompson a fight in mid 2013.Comment

This must be a joke, because you don't go straight from fighting bums to fighting for the heavyweight title.British heavyweight Anthony Joshua said a world title fight could be on the horizon in 2015 but first he is focused on the clash with America’s Kevin Johnson on January 31, Sky Sports reports.
The Olympic gold medallist made the professional transformation just over a year ago, and has notched an impressive run of 10 fights unbeaten.
“I feel, in the current heavyweight division, if I keep on progressing, it will edge me towards a world title fight,” Joshua said.

Joshua is no2 ranked heavyweight in UK now according to a british boxing mag which escapes me.
So he can now fight the Prices, Chisoras and hayes of this world right now, with no excuses.Comment

He's been fighting better competition and more often than the likes of Haye and Price, so it's understandable.
Hughie Fury will fight Rudenko in Feb, so he should move to the #2 spot since Rudenko is better than anyone AJ has beaten. And hughie has also beaten a few guys AJ beat.
But obviously that won't happen because HF doesn't have the hype machine behind him.Comment

there is one thing that I love about peter fury as a trainer. right from the start of Hughie's career he has matched him with tough trial horses. Fighters who he knew Hughie should beat but would give him some experience. Hughie is still a growing boy so he hasn't reached peak size yet. Peter also said he doesn't care if Hughie loses because of his age & sometimes a loss early in the career can be more of a learning experience than any win. Too bad Hughie got ill because he was in the ring every month up until then. Thompson would have mopped the floor with Hughie I think & i'm sure the fury camp watched the price fights closely...I'd like to see 5'10½ , 160 lbs GGG fight 6'8, 250 lbs David Price
