Turning into the Villain vs Oscar De La Hoya is what did it!

Clearly him being a WWE fan he basically became a real live Villain and understand that becoming so will = A LOT $$$ and basically IT DID!

Nobody should feel "SORRY" for him, the HATE is what he wanted and he is getting it...but IN RETURN he is also making a TON OF MONEY without Corporate Endorsements which is unheard of especially for American Athletes who Endorsement Deals usually pay more than what the League they play for pays!

        its quite simple formula really.

they follow the music business model of creating OUTSIDE DRAMA TO COMPENSATE FOR LACK OF QUALITY OF THEIR PRODUCT.

Floyd is boring to watch so what does his team do?

they MANUFACTURE a ******, THUG LIFE, WANKSTA PERSONA. A over the top personality, boorish behaviour, trash talking to the extreme to make up for his lack of captivating fights in the ring.

SIMPLE BUSINESS FORMULA BORROWED FROM THE MUSIC INDUSTRY.

After SHO gives him $30 million, hes in charge of promoting the fight.

$5 mill goes to GBP to promote it
Around $5 mill goes to all the other fighters purses
At least $10 mill goes to advertising and marketing the fight. A couple more million for travel expenses and promotional tour.
The entire event also has to be insured.

Its been reported numerous places that he needed to sell 1.2 million to break even. He didn't come close either fights last year. Factor in Uncle Sam taking 40%, and Al Haymon taking 15% and Floyd takes home less than Pacquiao, Wlad, Cotto and probably Canelo at the end of the year.
I think that statement is bull crap. There is no way in hell showtime continue to pay him a lot of money just to lose money.

If it was so simple everyone who tried it would be as successful.

To the TS question, He became the top earner in the sport's history by selling the most ppv's and having the biggest live gates. this means, despite what those who hate him post, fans like watching Floyd mayweather fight and don't mind paying to do so.

                Its really that simple!

Exactly, what Mayweather does is special, even those who dislike him admit that. We having an understanding of what Mayweather brings to the ring, it's been established over and over, so people know exactly what they're paying for. Who's skill set gets more talked about than Mayweather? The answer is no one.

Americans still do dig excellence and the best, if a guy never loses that is a pretty easy sell. That along with the longevity of it all, the longer you are around the more you are known and for like the last 6 years everyone that likes boxing even the tiniest bit has had pretty strong opinions about Mayweather.

He got pretty big, got the opportunity to hit the big lick with Oscar and then never really dropped the ball (even if some people did not agree with his choices totting the rock). That is the boxing recipe for success~
