Yeah they knew for 5 years that Pacquiao was the one making excuses, just like now on the date. They want to twist facts and imply irrelevant distractions to discredit Mayweather and continue to falsely place Pacquiao as the one making things happen for the fight to happen.

Anyway on topic: Canelo if he feels this way, he should not be fighting in the United States asking for dollars, he should be in Mexico fighting for pesos for the Mexican people. He should be banned from fighting in the states and should only fight another Mexican on that date.

If those dates are just for Mexican fighters than he should also fight in Mexico for Mexican fans.

If you want those dates, put up a great fight that the fans want to see.
And Boxing fans want to see Canelo vs Cotto on May 2nd because it's a great matchup with no predetermined winner backed by a great rivalry, and it forces Mayweather to fight Pacquiao, another fight that could go either way with a great rivalry.

Who's going to watch Mayweather vs Khan?, we all know who wins that one, so why waste anyone's time. The only fight that can even compete in any level on May 2nd is Mayweather vs Pacquiao, we all know it.

And guess what???? IF May vs Pac happens, Canelo vs Cotto moves to a later date you idiots.

It's a win win situation for us fans, we get Canelo Cotto, or Mayweather vs Pacquiao.

I dont get why people are against this.

          "bububububbut Mayweather is teh Boss"

You got it all wrong, "You are Mayweather's boss", but seems like people are too chicken***** to see it.
You have a good point & it really can be a win-win for the fans. Floyd/Pac possibly on May 2 & Cotto/Canelo possibly in June, 4 of the biggest names in a months span. Arums trying to play the mexican holiday angle and it could very well blow up in his face tho. As we all know Floyd has been fighting on that date for the past few years and if Arum holds his stance and doesnt make Pac available on that date, Floyd likely faces Cotto killing the Canelo fight and Pac goes on to fight Vargas. Like i said this could very well blow up in Bobs face and he loses out on both fights, Floyds firm on that date.

there are plenty of mexican and mexican-american fans in the us..
you dont see canelo wearing us flags or even targeting non-hispanic casuals on any other way ... he is fighting for the latino audience in the us and he also pays taxes...

I was waiting for the Canelo bandwagon to jump in and defend this entitled little b*tch. He had his chance to beat the Mayweather the Mexican, he lost but yet here is acting like he actually won. He's going to fight on May 5th regardless? Well he ducked Cotto all because he would have had to fight 3000 miles a way on a different day but... he'd still be fighting in a country that doesn't celebrate that holiday.

Of all the people I'm quoting I can't believe it's Dunn but it's 100% accurate. Canelo fighting in the US on a Mexican holiday is like Floyd fighting on the 4th of July in Canada then proclaiming how much he loves the US. He would be crucified in the media if he did that but if Canelo does it, it's his deserved place because he's Mexican. I hope he fights on May 2nd, I'll go out of my way to by the other fight, I don't care who Floyd is fighting. The last time Canelo went up against a PPV he fought a JWW at JMW, Rod Salka must be available on May 2nd again.

So you're saying Mexican-Amercans can't buy a PPP if an American fighting on that date? Or the ones that buy when Floyd fights don't pay taxes?

Cinco de Mayo is observed to commemorate the Mexican army's victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. It didn't involve AMerica.

How exactly does fighting in Las Vegas on that weekend/day help celebrate this holiday?

Wouldn't it make more sense if he fought in Mexico, as close to Puebla as possible, to celebrate?

I doubt Mayweather is afraid to go Head to Head. All they will do is stack up the card and add Chavez Jr to the Card, WTF do you think Haymon signed him for?:

                    Mayweather vs Khan
                    Chavez Jr vs Froch

That Double Header RUINS Cotto vs Canelo especially if you take into consideration the fact that Chavez Jr is a bigger DRAW than Canelo based on his PPV Numbers vs Martinez compared to Canelo vs Lara and Angulo

Mayweather is not going to move off of that date. They all will lose money on that date because of EGO and the fans will lose out having to choose or trying to switch back and forth to Events.

The Plan is after Mayweather is done, those Mexican Dates are going to CHAVEZ JR...NOT CANELO! Chavez was signed FOR A REASON! (JUST ME ASSUMING... )
Wow that would be an awesome card. If it happens in the UK, then even better.

The SW USA has a massive Mexican population. In Southern California Mexicans are easily the majority race in the region. Cinco De Mayo is a huge weekend down here, massive. Everyone even blacks, whites, asians and other Latino's celebrate. They probably have no clue of the reason but it's a huge weekend to get drunk and it's a great excuse to do it.

That being said, it's still the US and Canelo had his chance and become LeBron is the fourth quarter of the finals a few years back and did ABSOLUTELY nothing. It was like Canelo was getting wedgies, swirlies, wet willy's and everything a bully used to do in school to you and he just let it happen. It was embarrassing as hell, but hey... that's apparently what Mexicans are proud of and want to see every year as opposed the boxing clinic Floyd put on. Your skill doesn't matter in boxing Dunn, it's all about race as we can see.
